Tunis will host another flat classic with most of PCT's best sprinters looking for a victory.
The race looks quite interesting: the short climb which has to be raced 16 times may lead to some unexpected tactics and it's the most interesting question, wether the pure sprinters will face a tough time on this circuit or not.
The startlist/
The favorites/
Danilo Napolitano had a prestigious win in Moscow recently and with his team Evian finally bringing in some great results, he has to be named as the top-favorite here in Tunis.
Maxime Vantomme is aiming to continue Rothaus' succesful season so far and he's definitely someone to bet on (wherever you want).
Jürgen Roelandts is more than a dark horse, he's without any doubts a sprinter, who can handle a race like Tunis very well.
Also Heinrich Haussler had some nice results so far this year and most recently, so the Aussie-German can do something special here.
Same goes for the likes of Jacopo Guarnieri, Francesco Ventoso, Tomas Vaitkus or teammate Mitchell Docker (as always interesting to see, who will be the team's leader).
Serbriakov, Drujon, Hutarovich, Castanedo or Michael Kreder join this packed list of possible favorites.
Also Rizza/Abakoumov, Abdallah and Schinker have the speed to be top-seeded in their divsion. Will they be able to deliver in such a strong field as well?
The other teams send some interesting riders, too: will hope for Gavazzi to use his allround-skills.
And to complete the startlist: Vasyluk, Bennett, Nooytens and Van der Ginst seem to lead their teams, hoping for a surprise.

Strong competition, but the uphill finish suits Haussler so i hope he can finish in the Top3.

This seemed like a good race to place my win goal in the off-season. Now I'm not so sure
Anyway I've brought my full sprint squad here, so fingers crossed. But I believe both Roelandts and Haussler should be considered favourites here given the uphill finish.

I'm afraid the uphill sections will prove to be too hard for Castenada, maybe I should hope my team rides for Sieberg :-p

Roelandts is favourite for me. With the tough course I really hope that Drujon can manage a top 10.

I swear every flat classic is hilly nowadays. Top 5 is again the goal. |

Honestly no idea what to expect from this race. It all comes down to how much of decisive the hills, and in special, the finishing hill will turn out to be. I'm glad that we're rated among the worst teams, that gives more opportunitys in breakaways, which should suit Bikienga, Pranata and Sai-Udomsin just perfect. |

The hill is really short though. So with the draft from the peloton there be no riders dropping. Just the final sprint will be tough for those purely flat sprinters. That's why I hope for Gavazzi and a strong result. Top 3 could very well happen.
Looking forward to this anyway, as I built it

Abdallah will not feature in this sprint. He'll join a train, but he'll finish in 78th place.
We're just here because it's an African race

One of those leftovers for Vantomme. So let`s see if he can stay in the peloton for the final sprint.
Not the highest expectations here. Top10 would be cool. |

Quite a few low pointers recently in Tunis, Rogaland and Czech 1st.
Need to turn this around again.
12th is fine but had hoped to be top10 in case of a sprint finish like this. |

Time to quote myself from the Rogaland thread

I presume youve given Ventoso some races where he will be your sole leader? Have to wonder if he is held back whenever you include Avelino in one of his races.
Clearly having them both in a race does hold Ventoso back, but in this instance, it worked out alright! Quite surprised that Avelino managed to win what appeared to be an uphill sprint - but then 2nd place Serebriakov is another speed bump hater aswell!

Vaitkus is getting into a habit of attacking in these classics. Paid off in South China, not so much here or Moscow.
Still, 4th for Docker is nice. He's probably going to be quite high up in the individual rankings at this rate.

Didn't see that one coming. Looks like those two bikelengths of advantage Avelino had at the start of the sprint might've made the difference at the finish.
Vantomme, Napolitano and Roelandts below expectations. Any chance the former was boxed in behind Abakoumov and struggled to move past? The other two blew their chances when they had to close the gap to Ventoso-Avelino early, I think.

Ahah I was just answering that remark of yours in the Rogaland thread and then I read tsmoha's report. It's quite bizarre because of all the times I combined Ventoso and Avelino this is the only one where one of them serves as a leadout to the other. The other times they just rode as 2 separate captains. I guess I was lucky here, but the team was perfect! Season win goal achieved, couldn't be happier with how karma worked here

Vantomme? If he was boxed in, then just for a few moments. But it's sometimes hard to say, as i don't know when he started his sprint. Just as Napo, so lost Vantomme some speed in the end though.

Drujon scrapes his top 10 result there but I'm fine with that. Congrats to Prio, a big win for them. I
