Le Tour de l'Avenir - Stage 2
SportingNonsense
Stage 2 is flat again, although the terrain does include some hills and the last 3km are all uphill at a 4-5% slope.

Here is the breakaway:

Interesting tactics from 2nd overall Moscariello. He is joined by Nolf, Phinney, Van Stayen, De Gendt and Jacobs.

Michael van Stayen takes the KoM jersey and also wins 2 of the 3 intermediate sprints - Phinney won the other.

Jacobs and Moscariello are dropped at the final intermediate sprint then Phinney is dropped too as the riders head towards the finish. Having sat in the wheels all day, Nolf attacks and gets a gap. He still leads with 3km to go as they approach the 4-5% climb of Mont Saint Martin.

De Gendt is quickly caught by the pack as Van Stayen closes in on Nolf.

And at 1km to go, Nolf is caught. Van Stayen is on the inside while frenchmen Bacquet and Aulas are looking strong.
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/avenir14.png

Its going to be Bacquet v Cooper for the win, the main sprinters are there but it looks as if either theyre not coming out of their sprint trains, or are unable to.
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/avenir15.png

Bacquet wins! The french crowd goes mad!
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/avenir16.png

Theres no points or time bonuses at the finish for some reason, so Cooper only moves up to 3rd, instead of what would have been 2nd. Moscariello slips to 61st overall having lost time at the finish.
