Back to the sprinter classics with the GP Moscow. It`s an absolutely flat classic, where the top sprinters should fight for the win.
Except for some missing sprinter teams like Amex or WWE all top sprinters are here more or less.
Reviewing the 2012 result we can`t really see many riders, who also start this season. Bennati won ahead of Corioni and Markov, but while the first two stepped up into the Pro Tour Markov didn`t even find a team for 2013.
The favourites 2013 are different names but still the names are some of the best sprinters in cycling.
Napolitano must always be named as the top favourite in the sprinter classics. The team needs him to perform as he did not ride many races yet. The whole team here is build around him and should bring him into position in the end.
Cavendish also has strong helpers here and might look for the race win. Rowe, Docker and Vaitkus could all be expected in the top5 as well, so finding the right leader might be important.
Lo Cicero should like this race as it`s without any climbs. When having a nice position in the end he should be able to find a good speed. Negative point is the pretty weak team around him in comparison to others.
Vantomme proved his worth this season and might be one of the most successful sprinters so far in 2013. Only a big classic win is missing.
Avelino leads for Prio-Porte. One of the most improved teams so far. His team is very strong and so he is a podium candidate.
Kennaugh needs to deliver. So far the team is struggling to hang on to the promotion spots, which surely must have been their goal. Kennaugh couldn`t convince in many races so far and needs to improve.
Roelandts is always a good bet for the win. He might be the most complete sprinter in this division and must be named here.
Behind those "top favourites" we have a long list of other riders, who all could win the race as well on a good day. So they are surely not much weaker.
The Russians surely hope for their Russian top sprinters Maksimov and Serebriakov. With the crowd cheering for them everything is possible here. Harder for the biggest Russian team Tinkoff with Krasnov/Trusov. On the other hand they know this race more than anyone else and as last year they might be able to surprise.
Guarnieri, Castaneda, Hoffman all deserve a mention as well as a top5 is definitely possible for those.
A bit weaker maybe but not without chances are also , Drujon, Hutarovych, Kreder, Gavazzi or Park.
Last team, who mustn`t miss that race for obvious reasons but on the other hand surely are the biggest outsider is the 2nd Russian PCT team LukOil. They can only hope for a perfect day by Mironov.

I expect nothing, so can't be disappointed. Hoffman to win again. |

Hoffman winning? He might pull a Dall'Antonia style move. Napolitano should do nice, but finish 2nd again. |

Finally we race again
Problem is, I doubt we come out of this, with any more points than we had coming in, which is a problem with our recently light schedule.

With such a strong sprinter field, it will be serious hard to win the race, but I'm hoping for a podium for Lo Cicero nonetheless. Should suit him better than the other races so far at least |

So higher chance he will fail? |

The duo Drapac/Rasmussen did not work well sofar, so i do not expect too much here.
My initial plan was to benefit from Rasmussens high RES, but in previous races, Drapac was our leading sprinter. My fault, of course.

Expecting a crash to wipe out half the field, because i'm that sort of optimist

Mu money is on Cavendish given the huge potential for a lead-out he could get. I hope Drujon can make a top 10 and that his great support stats come into play at this distance to help him beat some of the faster guys.

Positioning is the key here, together with flat and stamina, which was prooven already this year to play big role. So i am confident Hoffman will enter the top5 against the stronger sprinters with lower secondary stats. If he will not fail like in Down Under classic with his positioning.
Hoffman is here to surprise once again, i hope he will crush the non-believers.

Happy with Vantomme to continue his good 2013 form!
I was quite happy that my team didn`t try to form an own train here as it would be by far weaker than the other trains and you can`t make much wrong by following NApolitano I guess.
If he had waited a bit longer I think he could have had beaten Roelandts for 2nd but nothing to complain about.
Congrats to Evian for their needed win. |

Docker 83rd, Rowe 91st. What's the point in having arguably the best group of sprinters if they refuse to sprint or even lead-out.
Congrats Evian though.

Strange decisions from my team, I'm happy this is one of the few flat-classics I'm racing this year

Had really hoped for a top 5 by Lo Cicero, but I'll take the 9th considering his weak helpers.
Napolitano showed great strength here, big congrats to our Mongolian rivals! |
