Last stage in Dunkerque and actually a pretty easy one for the sprinters. So we should see an exciting fight for the point jersey between Docker and Sieberg mainly.
The first decision is made. With Bush winning the KoM over Gate and Bazhkou, Sparling is taking the KoM jersey home ahead of Bush, who climbed to 2nd ahead of Hristov. Gate would have needed to score higher to reach the podium and will follow on the 4th.
These three also form todays breakaway.
Bush
Gate
Bazhkou
So far not the best race for Bouygues, who probably would have hoped for a higher GC position and maybe a stage win. Today is the last chance for Weylandt.
Different to the recent days the sprint points are all about the breakaway and the sprinters behind can save all their energy for the final.
Bazhkou takes the first sprint ahead of Gate and Bush. But none of them is any GC danger and so they don`t really care.
Mitch Docker has very good chances to win the point jersey today. He is just 1p behind Sieberg but the far better sprinter as shown before. So his airBaltic team is coming to the front chasing the group. 5min gap with 70km to go.
2nd intermediate sprint and Gate, Bazhkou and Bush just go over the line.
They lost 1'10 on the last 20km so it`s not lost already.
Another ~20km later the last sprint with Bazhkou winning over Bush and Gate.
The peloton did increased the pace and so they have only 2'16 with 28km to go and the peloton seems to be stronger.
Indeed. 8,2km to the finish and the breakaway is caught. It was some nice TV coverage for those three but now the sprint will be more interesting.
Again three trains by Bpost, Bouygues and today also by airBaltic for the first time, who really want the point jersey back.
McLay Declerq Briggs Stallaert Docker Lhotellerie Drujon Kankovský Barguil Eisel Weylandt Tronet Sieberg Torckler Van der Ginst Eichler Thomas
So also Sieberg has not given up yet and has a good position behind Weylandt, while Credexbank hasn`t set a train yet. But Kankovský showed his speed already and maybe it will work better while hanging on Docker`s wheel.
The Bpost train seems the strongest with Stallaert coming to the front, while Docker has opened a gap to his leadout man Briggs.
Also the Bouygues train was once again the weakest and so they are going behind Docker and Kankovský now.
Drujon looks a bit blocked on the right, while Eisel is passing him and also Docker is coming fast on the open right half with Kankovský and Weylandt right behind.
It couldn`t get much closer. Eisel and Tronet in the lead but Drujon finally found a gap and is closing it.
Docker still needs a bit and Kankovský is looking very dangerous in this position, while Weylandt seems to be too far behind.
Even further behind in 13th position only is Sieberg, who probably will lose his jersey today.
Still very close. Tronet is gone but this could have been expected.
Eisel, Docker and Drujon on one line with Kankovsky coming now.
And it`s Docker for the 2nd time. In a very close sprint he wins ahead of Drujon, who just made it until the line. Right afterwards he was passed by Kankovský (3.) and Eisel (4.).
Weylandt as 5th couldn`t get another podium, while Tronet and Eichler did perform pretty well today.
Sieberg only 8th is losing clearly to Docker but can be very happy with this race in general.
So Vanspeybrouck is taking the GC ahead of Sieberg and Baugnies. Well done.
