Hugo Houle | Canada's Next Star

Hi everyone! My name is Hugo Houle and I am a Canadian professional cyclist. This season I will be riding for AG2R in the UCI World Tour, but the last two years I rode for Spidertech, but unfortunately they decided to stop the team for the time being to focus their funds on making a World Tour team right away. I was planning on staying because I love how the team operated but I am very excited to be racing in the World Tour!

I would say that Im a bit of an all-rounder much like the current crop of Canadian riders in my generation, who all seem to be able to compete on many terrains. My best specialties are for sure the Time Trial and hills though, but I think I'm a decent sprinter and climber as well.

2011 was a real breakout year for me, as I had a lot of Top 50 results in the Belgian early season classics and then I finished 5th in both Road and TT Canadian Championships. The Tour de l'Avenir was another fun race for me, and I finished 5th in the opening prologue which was a good result for me and I followed that up with a 26th at the U23 UCI TT World Championships.

2012 was the year where I really improved on my results! The first great result was a 7th on Stage 3 of the Tour of California, and then I really did well at the Tour de Beauce and finished 2nd Overall and 1st in the Youth Category. Later I got some strong sprint results at the Tour of Utah and then finished the year at at U23 World Championships where I finished 13 at the TT event and 4th on the hilly Road Course.

This year I plan much of the same, making big improvements. I've seen that a lot of riders struggle in their first season of Pro Tour racing so I've got to work extra hard and hopefully I can get some good results.

The success from David Veilleux's blog, a close friend of mine, helped me decide to start my own blog, so I hope it can be as successful as his.

And so I return.

Feel Free to post now. I've got time again and I think one-rider stories are better for me. Im hoping this can be as successful as David Veilleux was, and I've learned some things from mistakes I made with that story. I would have liked to continue that, but its too far ahead and it would be more work than I want to put in, to get it back.

Actually, would anyone be opposed to a switch to Hugo Houle? Embarassed

He's Canada's biggest talent right now.

I have no objection. Hugo would probably be better anyway.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

The reason for the change is that I feel Hugo will be a better rider in real life, so its less of a stretch to have him develop into a strong rider on PCM. I also liked him better to begin with, but Teddy had a brief story with him in the past, and I wanted to chose an original rider, but in the long run decided it would be best for me to just pick Hugo.

(His name is catchier as well) Pfft

And the introductions are now done for Hugo. I edited his stats slightly

Hugo Houle, nice choice! Develops nicely most of the time, in my game, had him in my team once as well.

Good luck with the story!
