2008 Olympics: Individual Pursuit

The draw consists of 16 riders, all who have parcipated in the Individual Pursuit discipline during the 2007 World Cup Track events in Manchester, Sydney and Beijing - plus at the Worlds too.

The draw is as follows:

Bradley Wiggins - Britain
Daniel Becke - Germany

Antonio Tauler - Spain
Magnus Backstedt - Sweden

Aleksandre Pliuschin - Moldova
Steven Cummings - Britain

Sergio Escobar - Spain
Vladimir Djudja - Ukraine

Dominique Cornu - Belgium
Jens Mouris - Netherlands

Taylor Phinney - USA
David O'Loughlin - Ireland

Luke Roberts - Australia
Aleksandr Serov - Russia

Brad McGee - Australia
Brad Huff - USA

Bradley Wiggins took an easy victory over German Daniel Becke, and will next face Magnus Backstedt, who just edged out Tauler in a very tight finish.

Aleksandr Pliuschin powered away from Steven Cummings in the closing stages to earn a place against Sergio Escobar.

Cornu and Mouris held a tight battle but the Belgian was always on top, winning through.

Next for Cornu is Taylor Phinney, who produced an impressive demolition of David O'Loughlin.

Luke Roberts then beat Aleksandr Serov, and Bradley McGee would join him, after an under-par display against Bradley Huff.

Wiggins made light work of Backstedt in the first of the quarter finals.

It was tighter in the next quarter final, but Escobar won through against Pliuschin.

Taylor Phinney gave Dominique Cornu a scare in the next quarter final but the Belgian won through against the young American.

Still withough a challenge, Bradley Wiggins strolls through to the final, knocking out Escobar.

Things were tighter in the other semi final but as expected, McGee made his way through to set up a Bradley-Bradley final.
