I play PCM2008, with the 2009 DB and a handful of self-added riders to the DB, hence why I'm posting in such an antiquated forum.
After seeing Farnese Vini flouro kit at the 2012 giro, I modded the LPR team equipment/kit to match the flouro vibe and took them on in career mode, flying an all-italian team. After three seasons, I find it hard to stomach the results, with the real-life counterparts having doping pasts. Thus, I wanted to create a new team, and manage that one instead.
I'm just not sure exactly how to do it.
If I add the team during the running season, the games adds the team but without a manager, but also added some random, teamless riders into current races, throwing off the standings/statistics. I assume I should wait until after the season ends, 10/15, then add the team. I assume the "Contact Team" button will be un-greyed from the manager window, so I can assume control of that team.
As a side note, I've modded the frames, helmet, etc. of some equipment to have it match the flouro; how do I set those pieces to be the LPR/FarneseVini defaults?
Again, this is an existing career mode savegame.

But you're right in the sense that you should wait until the season has ended. I don't know about the "Contact team" thing (I don't even remember it being there), but either way, you can take over the team by editing the database.
I can't quite help you with the equipment - unless it's similar to current versions of the game which I assume it isn't.
Anyway, it would be helpful if you uploaded your save game. But wait until it's relevant - when you've reached the end of the season
