Glava Tour - Stage 2
FroomeDog99
i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/Glava2_zpsc6919ede.png

Stage two of the Glava Tour has a very flat profile, just like stage 1. That means that there should be a similar outcome today with a massed sprint. The favorites are the riders who did well yesterday, and some of the bigger names who missed out. The main names mentioned pre-stage are
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay,
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillén and
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Sutton.
Yesterday’s winner i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Ciocan isn’t there and many see his win as lucky. He will be hoping to prove them wrong.

It is a sunny day in Norway as we pull out of the start. Straight away a group of four attacks away and gets a 45 second gap. The names are i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/vtf_zps1d97281a.png Renang, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Hagen, talent i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Dombrowski and climber i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Di Gregorio. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Porsev is also trying to bridge up to the quartet and is in the gap.

It is very unusual for a rider in i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Di Gregorio’s position as having a teammate in the leader’s jersey to get in the break. We will see if the peloton are happy with this or not.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1510_zpsf282612c.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Porsev bridges the gap relatively quickly and the five make it to the day’s only mountain sprint together. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Hagen takes it ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Porsev and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/vtf_zps1d97281a.png Renang, but i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Veilleux will retain the jersey after winning two sprints yesterday.

The quintet aren’t in the clear yet though. The peloton are keeping the gap under a minute thanks to BNCR and Credexbank.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1511_zpsba209317.jpg

Eventually though they fight through and pull away, currently holding around 2 minutes on the bunch. Great news for Mobil, who despite having the race leader will not have to chase.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1516_zpsb00811ca.jpg

The five riders have pulled out 4’16 as we reach the first of two intermediate sprints. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Porsev unsurprisingly takes it due to him being the strongest sprinter in the group. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Hagen and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Dombrowski get second and third.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1523_zps9aa6bf96.jpg

With 50 kilometers left the bunch has started to increase the pace. Ibeira are the main driving force, probably for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay, while Mobil are also lending a hand despite i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Di Gregorio being up the road. The gap is dropping but it still currently stands at 3’24. The break probably doesn’t have much hope though on this flat run-in.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1530_zps8605ef6a.jpg

Up at the front i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Porsev takes the final sprint like the first. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Hagen gets another second and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Di Gregorio sneaks into third. The gap has fallen further now to just 2 minutes now that we enter the business end of the race.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1533_zpsc6b6ed74.jpg

And that gap is closed to just 30 seconds as we near the last 20 kilometers. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Porsev attacks away in a desperate attempt at getting a little more camera time, with everyone bar i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Hagen following.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1540_zpsd1458473.jpg

They get nowhere though, so i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Di Gregorio tries again. The others can’t follow so the Frenchman sets off alone, 42 seconds ahead of the pack.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1546_zps486daaf3.jpg

The other four attackers are swept up with 12 kilometers left so i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Di Gregorio is the last rider off the front. It looks as if he will be caught soon with BNCR pulling hard but you never know.

Other than that, the race looks poised for another bunch sprint. BNCR and Credexbank look like the main driving forces like yesterday, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are the favorites, after they got swamped yesterday.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1551_zpsbd574ce0.jpg

Into the final 10 kilometers and Mobil’s attacker has been swept up. We will have a bunch sprint.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1553_zpsd94b6f99.jpg

Credexbank have set up a train and have three men in front of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cre_zps8fb855ae.png Kanovsky. BNCR are just behind preparing a leadout for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillén but the Belarussians are well in control. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mtn_zps3dcc4d70.png Ben Youcef, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Sutton are also well positioned.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1557_zps6a2b70aa.jpg

The sprint has started and BNCR has moved into control as once again Credexbank’s efforts have proved lackluster. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillén is in pole position with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Morales giving him a great leadout. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay is just behind in his wheel.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1559_zpsb5255ae6.jpg

1200m to the line and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillén has been launched into the lead. Credexbank have fought their way back to the front and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cre_zps8fb855ae.png Clarke is right behind the Costa Rican, yet to release i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cre_zps8fb855ae.png Kanovsky. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Sutton are both waiting to start their final kick within the first few positions.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1562_zpsad1af628.jpg

Only 800m left and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillén is still sprinting strongly. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/vtf_zps1d97281a.png Crespo, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cre_zps8fb855ae.png Kanovsky and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay are coming fast from behind though! Can they catch him?

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1568_zpse72e802c.jpg

He is still riding well with 400m left…

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1573_zps9b1e06c9.jpg

But has faded with just 100m to go! i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/abc_zps288913e0.png Dekkers and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay have come past the Costa Rican champion and are fighting each other for the win.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1576_zps401d6fe9.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/abc_zps288913e0.png Dekkers takes it! What a great final sprint from the Dutchman, overtaking most of the main sprinters in the last few meters to claim victory.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/PCM1578_zps6505aa16.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Sutton got second by centimeters against i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/icv_zps83bfa75e.png Lay who also gets a podium, in third.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ken_zps45e45b07.png Lasca repeats his previous success in fourth, as does i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mcc_zpse0e8a92e.png Ciocan in fifth.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cre_zps8fb855ae.png Kanovsky, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/fcb_zpse1da305d.png Lequatre, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mtn_zps3dcc4d70.png Ben Youcef, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillén and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mag_zpsa8a946c8.png Speirs complete the top 10 in that order. Especially a disappointing finish from BNCR’s leader, after leading for so long during that last kilometer.

After the stage, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Sutton moves into the leader’s jersey after gaining more bonus seconds. Risa-Ergon will have to defend his lead tomorrow.
