Hey guys,
I've been thinking of this question for a while so I decided to just make a poll and see the response.
How much do you ride your races in 3d mode compared to simulation? Please consider this question in the long-term perspective of your playthroughs: for the entire season, or for your entire career game. Feel free to explain your vote in this thread. |

I rarely simulate.
Only very boring races or races that I'm chanceless.
Also, if it's a very small race which only functions as a form-builder is simulated by me sometimes.
But I 3D race by far the most races. It's much more fun, and gives better results(more realistic)

Why would anyone simulate most races? I don't see much point in playing if not racing in 3D
Hidden option 7 for me: Never simulating any race

I use 3d mode for all the hilly, ITT and Mountain Stages but i always use detailed Simulation for Flat and TTT. Sometimes I have to simulate 2 times because of the strange results. |

Back when I played my first edition of PCM (08) I would usually sim most races and only play decisive stages or WT races. That was when I usually played as WT teams though.
Now I play most races except if Im an all climbing team and its a flat day (unless of course there are KOM sprints and Im targeting that).
Sometimes I just like to get to the signing new riders phase in July.
For stories I play all stages though.

Well I guess if you're wild about the manager aspect of the game Not that anybody does that. Maybe if you've been going for a long time with a career and you become bored of riding all the races and just want to see your riders grow and do transfers.
Hidden option 7 I understand, I do pretty much the same thing. My intention was to put people who do next to no simulation in the same category as people who don't simulate at all, because their premise is the same: To avoid simulation completely. In my career my goal is to never simulate but I have simulated one or two races in the past when I was very bored. |

I sim a fair bit tbh. I pretty much religiously sim TTT results due to the 3D race version of those events being entirely broken.
If i'm in a stager with no sprinters and its a flat stage, it gets simmed unless I really feel there will be a split. Also in reverse, if its a sprint team at a stage event without anyone looking for GC, I'll often sim the mountain stages unless I'm worried about time cut. |

Before PCM 10 I used to simulate always, but since PCM 10 I'm riding all the races. I even ride the national championships. Most people find them boring, they are also a bit, but I still like them.

I race in 3D more, but when I simulate the breakaway gets the win sometimes but they don't get it in 3D, so it's more realistic to sim, in my opinion

I could never do all 3D. There is not enough variety in the AI are stages for me to keep it up.
Quick Sim the vast majority of stages. Yes it throws up some odd results but thats part of the fun. And as i like to get several seasons in quickly so the game is not the same thing you can only do that by simming.
Even for my story i use the occasional quick sim when i just can't be asked to play the full stage. They can take ages to load, then lag, then crash... The AI can be more fucked than quick sim results (any race with less than 100 riders has issues)
But each to their own.

Completely depends on what I am trying to do, My current Bontrager story designed for me to run each race. Some of my previous stories were built to be at a very fast pace and everything was simulated so going through a season was very quick.
So for the basis of this poll, probably one of the middle two options. I'll always Sim any TTT less than 35km because it's broken. And I'll normally Sim the NC's especially the smaller ones because breakaways can win by 30+ minutes. I do normally run the ITT's in 3d though.

if I bring my team to a race where the riders use the race as a build up for a GT and all have under 70 in fitness, I simulate everything. Í have GC contenders in my team that goes for the overall in all three GT: s so I never simulate a stage in a GT, even if it´s flat. i simulate maybe 10-15 stages/season roughly. and TTT I also simulate. have never bothered with them. |

Detailed simulation gives really, really strange results...
You should better use Quick simulation

I play every ITT. I have the feeling that I can get better results while playing ITT's compared to simulating. Especially on TTs with a few hills & downhills/a hilly TT.
I simulate most of the TTTs though

I simulate most of the races. I focus on the big stages of GTs or stage races, the classics (perticularly the cobblestones) and some races I a sentimentaly attached too.
I simply don't have time anymore to race too many otherwise a carreer would get stuck for ages.
And simulating leads to interesting results. I had Pinot in second place of the Vuelta 3 stages from the end in 2013 and not too far behind Contador, whose for was clearly dipping by now. Flat stage before the final moutain stage, I simulate, boom Pinot falls an gets injured...
PAM.
But c'est la vie, it was fun in the end. |
