Arango, Blaudzun, Prazdnovsky, Downing, Haselbacher and Pasamontes are the break. Pasamontes is a surprise attacker as he has one of the best hill stats in the peleton this tour.
Pasamontes and Pradnovsky are the 2 stronger, although Blaudzun isnt too far behind.
Pasamontes wins the first two KoM points and is now just 8 points behind Niels Albert. Meanwhile in the peleton, riders are starting to be dropped.
Mortensen and Farrar were first to go, soon followed by Horrillo, Maes, Traksel, Casper, and Van Heeswijk. Then in the next rise in the road, shortly before the intermediate sprint Tjalingii, Franzoi and Lowik were dropped.
Pasamontes dropped Prazdnovsky and held a 6 minute lead with 80km to go. Bad news for DFL though, Mattan is dropped! Having already lost his teammates.
With 70km to go, Zberg attacks. He doesnt get away but Horner and Schwab do. They are caught, but the chase of Pasamontes is now well and truly on.
With 41km to go Vansummeren and Grivko attack they catch and drop Prazdnovsky and Blaudzun. Here is the situation atop of the 3rd KoM point.
Pasamontes is rapidly being chased by Vansummeren, while Grivko has dropped back to the main chasing group. Worse news for Maxbo Bianch is to come though as Pliuschin is dropped on the same hill, along with Vitoria, Moeurenhout, Wellens, Grychencko, Perez Rodriguez and others.
The Cote de Ben-Ahin is the final KoM climb and its the end of Pasamontes' hopes as he is passed by Vansummeren.
Many of the 12 man chasing group try to attack on the hill but lack the blue bar. Vansummeren crosses first, but by crossing 2nd Pasamontes takes the KoM jersey.
The chase drops to 9 men with pre-stage favourite Zaballa having been dropped.
Muravyev, Pasamontes, Meirhaeghe, Zberg, Rovira, Horner, Voigt, Hermans and Grivko. They are 1 minute behind Vansummeren while Group Pliuschin/Vitoria is 2 minutes down on the lone Belgian.
Can Vansummeren cling on to victory atop the Mur de Huy?
Grivko attacks at the foot of the Huy, Voigt, Hermans and Horner respond well but the rest seem a little gapped. Zaballa has also brought himself back into contention.
Grivko is passed by Hermans and Voigt as Zberg comes towards the front of the group as the tight battle for 2nd hots up. Noone can catch Vansummeren though!
Grivko recovers some extra strength and surges back into 2nd, while Beat Zberg takes 3rd. Voigt takes 4th with a gap on Muravyev - but Vansummeren has done enough to take the race lead.
Mattan lost nearly 5 minutes and slips to 11th Overall with Vitoria and Pluchkin (8th and 9th) being the only riders in the top 10 GC who were not amongst the first 10 in the stage.
