I introduce to you Idemasport-Biowanze. We are a small Continental team from Wallonie in Belgium. We have a very modest budget, but big ambitions for the future, we hope to be one the biggest Belgian teams, and pick up some good results in the next season or two to secure us a bigger budget

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/190583_1904665220319_1352421704_2199686_1828069_n_zpsc4c4bb29.jpg

Here is our squad, very young, very modest, but there's some talent in there, Boris Vallée and Antoine Demoitié are our main hopes for the future, they may not be world beaters but they'll be handy! we'll be focussing mainly this year on the breakaways, and may have some chances in some of the lesser cobbled races and the odd sprint, but lack any real talent in the hills.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Stubbe_zps9ad5b757.jpg

Which is why we introduce to you our new signing for the season, welcome Tom Stubbe, he will give us some much needed firepower in the hills!

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Team_zps20490cdb.jpg

We may have a very small, relatively weak squad, but we have ambitions to be big! Rome wasn't built in a day!

Best of luck, excellent team choice Smile

Thanks all! Hoping to keep this going for a while, looking forward to seeing all the young riders progress, and building a very good Belgian team!

Round-up of January, followed by our first race coming soon!

January Round-Up

No races for us in January, a month that was dominated by Luis Leon Sanchez, winning 2 stages and the overall in the Tour Down Under followed by the Grand Prix la Marseillaise.

Gerrans won the Australian Championships ahead of Evans and team-mate Cam Meyer.

February Race Schedule

Tour of South Africa - 19/02 - 26/02
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad - 25/02
Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne - 26/02
Le Samyn - 28/02

A quiet start to February, but some good racing in the back end, going to the Belgian races more for the experience than anything, we don't expect anything out of them, the Tour of South Africa though would be nice if we could pick up a win!

Tour of South Africa

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/TourofSouthAfricaTeam_zps192c2bcc.jpg

Here's our team for the Tour of South Africa, we've got Stubbe here for GC and Boris Vallée here for the sprints. There's only 8 teams at the race so we're hopeful of some success!

Stage 1

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Stage1Profile_zps67d2e8c9.jpg

A flat stage that should end in a sprint, might be a bit too hilly for Vallée but he is our leader nonetheless, Stubbe will be a backup if Boris isn't strong enough.

Favourites - Remco Te Brake, Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg and Nikias Arndt

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen1_zps28948dfb.jpg

We go on the attack early with Maxime Anciaux, who is part of a two man escape with Boelen (De Rijke). Maxime takes maximum points on the only categorised climb of the day and will be in polka dots tomorrow!

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen2_zps034bfd1e.jpg

With the peloton in sight Anciaux tries one last time to stay away, but to no avail.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen3_zpsd115421b.jpg

With 3 km to go and the stage heading for a sprint it is LKT who are well in control leading out Arndt, but Stubbe and Vallée are well placed behind their train.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen4_zps0902cbda.jpg

Coming round the final bend Arndt is leading but he opened up his sprint a little early, Van Rensburg is coming round him. Stubbe and Vallée are right on his tail though. Can we get around him?!

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen6_zps92834ac9.jpg

While Stubbe falls away, Vallée keeps going strong, and a perfect sprint sees him pip Van Rensburg to the win. Unbelievable!!

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen7_zps41ab40d8.jpg

An incredible day for the team sees Vallée in yellow, we hold all the jerseys after the first stage with Boris in Yellow, Green and White while Maxime is the KOM. What a start!!!

Stage
1) Boris Vallée - Idemasport-Biowanze - 3h56'22
2) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN Qubeka - st.
3) Sondre Holst Enger - BMC Plussbank - st.
4) Arran Brown - MTN Qubeka - st.
5) Remco Te Brake - De Rijke - st.
6) Adam Phelan - Drapac - st.
7) Floris Goesinnen - Drapac - st.
8) Nikias Arndt - LKT - st.
9) Nikola Airstrup - Concordia - st.
10) Jani Tewelde Weldegabe - MTN Qubeka - st.

An awesome start for the team, tomorrow is a hilly stage, so while Boris probably won't hang on to yellow we're hopeful Stubbe might take it instead!

Great start to the season in South Africa Smile

Wow, a win to start, that's odd and unexpected Smile

Omloop will be great for the team to profile itself!

Thanks all, a super start, and so unexpected! Stage 2 is hilly, so I don't see Boris hanging on to yellow, so let's hope Stubbe can carry on our good start and take it off him! Smile

Stage 2

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Stage2_zps6736574c.jpg

Today is a hilly stage, don't expect to see Boris hanging in, so we're working for Tom Stubbe today.

Favourites - Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg, Tsgabu Grmay, Tom Stubbe

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen1_zps0c604bd7.jpg

Today we're looking to control the race, with the yellow jersey on our shoulders and having one of the stage favourites the impetus is on us. There's a 2 man break up the road with Bartl (LKT) and Handley (Rapha), Handley takes the categorised climbs meaning he swipes the KOM jersey from Anciaux.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen2_zps65768f84.jpg

With 15 km left and the break away back in the peloton the big boys come out to play, with Goesinnen the first to try get away. Vliegen however is doing a super job for us not letting anyone get away.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen3_zps5dc73fde.jpg
i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen4_zps68bdb90b.jpg

With 10 to go an elite group forms, we have 2 men in there Stubbe and Vliegen, sadly Boris couldn't hang on in there.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen5_zps3d1525c6.jpg

Grmay managed to slip away from the elite group and with 2km left he's looking good. Stubbe can see it's now or never so he attacks!

In the last km he catches and passes Grmay to take an excellent win, 2 from 2 from the team. In all my excitement I forgot to take a screenshot though! Sad

Stage 2
1) Tom Stubbe - Idemasport - 4h09'23
2) Tsgabu Grmay - MTN - s.t.
3) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - s.t.
4) Adam Phelan - Drapac - s.t.
5) Meron Russom - MTN - s.t.
6) Jani Tewelde Weldegaber - s.t.
7) Adrien Niyonshuti - MTN - s.t.
8) Adam Semple - Drapac - s.t.
9) Floris Goesinnen - Drapac - s.t.
10) Lorents Aasvold - Plussbank BMC - s.t.

GC
1) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - 8h05'25
2) Tom Stubbe - Idemasport-Biowanze - s.t.
3) Tsgabu Grmay - MTN - +8
4) Adam Phelan - Drapac - +20
5) Floris Goesinnen - Drapac - s.t.

Stage 3

A pretty flat day with a cat 2 climb just 12 km from the finish. Might be a little hard for Boris who'll have to work hard to hang in there. It's very windy, so there is a chance echelons could be formed.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Stage3Profile_zpsce4f9a75.jpg

Favourites - Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg, Remco Te Brake, Sondre Holst Enger

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen1_zpsb67ca627.jpg

Without a breakaway at all today the race was very quiet until the last 25 km when LKT and De Rijke came to the front and put the hammer down trying to split the peloton.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen2_zps796da700.jpg

All to no avail though as the peloton stayed more or less intact, even over the cat 2 climb. So we're going to have a sprint. Boris and Tom are well placed, but struggling a little after the combination of a very high pace the climb.

i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s541/farmersam1/Screen3_zpsa6b46dfd.jpg

And our dominance is broken by Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg who storms to victory, our boys had nothing left in the tank today, Tom and Boris finishing in the top 20.

Stage
1) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - 4h32'40
2) Adam Phelan - Drapac - s.t.
3) Arran Brown - MTN - s.t.
4) Sondre Holst Enger - Plussbank BMC - s.t.
5) Remco Te Brake - De Rijke - s.t.
6) Jani Tewelde Weldegaber - MTN - s.t.
7) Nikias Arndt - LKT - s.t.
8) Nikola Aistrup - Concordia - s.t.
9) Tsgabu Grmay - MTN - s.t.
10) Meron Russom - MTN - s.t.

GC
1) Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg - MTN - 12h37'45
2) Tom Stubbe - Idemasport-Biowanze - +20
3) Adam Phelan - Drapac - +28
4) Tsgabu Grmay - MTN +28
5) Jani Tewelde Weldegaber - MTN - +40
