Two times per year we are going to have some kind of awards. At the end of the cycling year (same as the calendar year) we are going to award the best performances by teams and riders throughout the year. The other awards are held at the end of the PCM-year (June / July) and award the best databases, shirts, etc. - which has already been held once.
The Cycling Awards are being held here for the first time, so I thought we should discuss the categories first. What do you suggest for categories?
- Rider of the year
- Team of the year
- Breakthrough of the year
- Best Grand Tour of the year?
- etc., etc..
And if you feel like it, you're also more than welcome to name some nominees |

Rider of the year
Team of the season
Breakthrough - rider who progressed the most since the previous year
Rookie - best neo-pro
Perseverence - every year there's someone who has to overcome hard odds, be it being treated unfairly, having a serious injury, personal problems, etc.
Race- most entertaining race of the season
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

I'm not trying to spoils things for you guys but what's the point of this award?
I'm sure we aren't handing out actual awards to the cyclists. Besides this site doesn't have a large enough community for this award to have any meaning apart from self-affirmation for those who voted in favour of the winner and annoyance for the rest. Not to mention the fact that this is a a PCM website not a cycling website.
I remember a PCM forum member quoting another website some time ago - something like "We do now offer football too".
Similar situation here: "We do now offer an award that no one, really no one gives a shit about". A post on the admins' forum would read as follows "we never thought it would mean anything to anyone, but it's just another means of keeping the post count high - if you know what Im saying".

For the fun of it, Panaflex. Not to keep the post count high, since we don't care much about that, but solely for the fun of it. One thing is what UCI decides, another thing is what we believe.
Why are there polls on websites? For no particular reason? |

I'm not going to be nationalistic in any of my votes. Cavendish may get the best rookie from me, but his season says he deserves it
