ArmA 2 is hands down the best game in terms of value for money I've had in the last 4-5 years, and probably the best game I've played in the last 3 years, if you include mods and expansions.
Buy ArmA 2 Combined ops so you have Operation Arrowhead with it as well. That way you can play DayZmod and Wasteland and get twice as much money for value.
Also, check out ArmA 3. It just got released as an alpha and you can already buy/play it.
I play Arma 2 at 1920x1080 at medium graphics with a Sapphire (ATI) 6950 2GB and a i5-2500k, 8GB ram. It runs fine. If your laptop is a gaming laptop relased in the last 2 years you should be able to run it. If it isn't a gaming laptop or not very new, then you probably won't ba able to. A friend of mine plays ArmA 2 on his old Nvidia 8800 GTX and even though the framerate is bad and the graphics are horrible, he still enjoys it.
The bottom line is in order for your laptop to run it, it needs to have a fairly recent graphics card and a decent processor. Post your specs and I'll might be able to help you further.
I can easily tell then that it won't have a hope.... I got this thing in 2010 but it was hardly up to date then...
But maybe it might be time to upgrade
ARMA, the best czech game, really great war half-simulator, very popular especially through famous DayZ mode.
Now ARMA3 is in alpha version and i have some contacts of one of developers, maybe i can provide somebody with alpha key to it. Also they will give you the key if you preorder the game now.
Friend told me, that it is looking awesome, but i fear it will tear computers apart again with its photorealistic graphics.
