Just got PCM12 from a friend and I'm just wondering what difficulty should I play on?
Last edition I had was PCM10 and there I played on modified hard level (using the editor, I modified some difficulty coefficent so that it would be almost between hard and extreme) because extreme seemed too hard.
2nd career season I won PT ranking with Liquigas (mostly thanks to Nibali, he won Basque, Catalunya, Romandie, TdF, 2nd in Dauphne, he was 5th best climber but the wicked DH helped a lot).
Hows the difficulties in PCM12? Is extreme different or same? And what difficulty would you suggest starting on (meaning: how different is the gameplay)?

Normal. It is in between everything so If you smash the first race than hard and if you dont than stay on normal

I would not suggest starting under Hard, if you are PCM experienced player, there it is just way too easy.
I play on hard with "bad" CT teams and Extreme witht he rest, i think it gives most chunk of realism and challenge.

I'm thinking of starting with Lotto but I've never been very good at sprinting, mostly because I've never played a team with a good train. I think I'll start TDU on hard and probably go to extreme after that.
Unless there is a way to modify difficulty levels like in PCM10, that would be a good way to gradually increase the difficulty and get used to it?

I think it is still possible, with editing the bonus that opponents gain, so for example extreme can be even more extreme. Pelli would know better, as he is master of the extreme extreme.
But as you said, you can start on hard and switch to extreme later, if you were too good with results with that superb Lotto train.

if you´re an experienced player I would suggest not to go under hard at least. Just like Avin wrote, if you´re a good Worldtour team then you should go for extreme. If you´re a continental team you can consider Hard, if the conti-team is a bad one. If it´s among the best conti-teams I´d say extreme.
Playing on Hard is just to easy. It stops being fun when you win all the cobbles classics and every worldtourstagerace on the calendar. with extreme, you can never be sure about winning also, extreme is most realistic. |

It also depends on your personal ambitions. If you like to win a lot, hard is totally fine with a WT team as well. But after a while, if you get, like, 50 wins a season with FDJ or so, the wins might not be satisfying any longer. Maybe as some sort of ground rule: If you're still happy about every win, it's perfectly fine. If you're starting to be unhappy about second places because you basically win everything, you might want to change

It depends what you call realistic, because on hard, you can beat much better riders on regural basis, or you can win race like P-N with average rider, when you know what to do.
I agree with Cunego, best difficulty is the one giving best feeling from playing. It is different for everyone.

Normal is the most fair difficulty.
I would even say that calling the 4 categories difficulties is untrue. It's not difficulties as they have no impact at all on AI behavior and ability. It just makes your riders -1 in all stats for each level over normal. That's not difficulty, that's just lying stats. |

iguwell you might be right. but if you want a somewhat realistic game with realistic results I´d say extreme is the best one. but if you want "fair" game when you and AI are on the same conditions maybe normal is the best one for that. but it´s really boringif you just winall the time nad there´s no challenge. but thats individual |
