The race of two seas opens up the Protour’s stage race triple header and it is much like last year a hilly course.
We have plenty of climbing with stage 2 and 3’s tough hill top finishes likely to give our big early indicators...
Stage 2
Stage 3
...before the queen stage into Chieti...
Stage 5
... stage six could also be challenging with a short drag at the finish.
Stage six
There are three sprinters stage’s including the traditional finishing stage into San Benedetto del Tronto.
Stage 1
Stage 4
Stage 7
With it being a triple header lets have a look at our startlist:
You’ll be stunned to see some of cycling absolute biggest stars here including Damiano Cunego and Tom Boonen.
Cunego having rudely interrupted the hilly men's opener in Badaling has decided to attempt to add the alternative Italian stage race to his bulging sack of Giro triumphs. He is joined by new Belgian hill climbing sensation Claeys, though it will be a compact six man team.
Last years Tirrano Adriatico was dominated by the Franck Schleck - Jan Bakelandts duel and both riders are here again. Other super hill climbing classics men Hagen, Ulissi, Pozzato, Van Garderen, Gilbert, Nibali and Ponzi. We also have Vespa making an appearance headlined by their leaders Pozzovivo and Ginanni.
It really is a superb field of super climbers which should make for a great spectacle on this races climbs.
But on the flat we are also in for a treat, as Tom Boonen will do battle takes on Italy’s very own Daniele Bennati. You can add Sam Bewley’s name to that elite sprinters list with Italian Guarnieri and Saffar Van Heerden sure to make this a competitive one on every stage.
A brilliant field, one wonders who’s left to compete in the Paris-Nice. Bring on the fireworks.
The stages will start to be posted upon completion of South Africa, San Luis and the upcoming C2 race The Emerald race.

5 and 6 have the same profiles.
I think it will be between Boasson Hagen and Cunego and the promoted teams continue to dominate. Maybe Ulissi can take profit of the National bonus as well.

This triple header coming, is crucial for my team, and I'll need Boasson Hagen to perform here if we're going to stay away from the relegation zone. I just hope he or anyone else of the biggest favourites not get "blocked out" of the race.
It's an incredible start list, really amazing. The reports will be very nice to read. Can't wait for it!
Nice preview as well, Smowz |

Need to get some points on the board here with Gilbert - he's not short of competition though. |

I had no idea that Burghardt was here. I don't think being second on the starting list is justified either, but we'll see.

The pressure is on. Lets see how Ponzi fares against proper sprinters, and against such an in-depth field for both the sprints and hills. |

Wow
Is the field here always so strong? Paris - Nice and Catalunya should provide some good points to someone
Hopefully this also means that our next racing will start soon (Emerald Race) |

I decided to bring only 5 riders here in the hope of being aggressive. So hopefully Diego Ulissi will use his capabilities by attacking as one of the first riders. He doesn't stand a chance by following the others, so this is all or nothing.

I didnt really have much choice but to send Schleck here with his allocated race days. Interesting that a few puncheurs with a good sprint stat have gone here, rather than the more suitable Paris-Nice route where the focus is more flat finishes for hilly stages, rather than uphill.
I dont remember the quality of fields being as distorted in favour of Tirreno in previous seasons. So if it was a 50/50 choice for some, and they went here, they might wish they hadnt by the end of the race!

We're very obviously here for the sprints, it's in fact the exact Qatar lineup.
I optimistically predict our sprint train to be the strongest with Nepomnyachsniy and especially Mohs hopefully suffering enough on the hills to weaken their leadout abilities - if both teams give it a try, that is.
In the stages we can relax, I look forward to what Cunego can do with limited support.
I doubt Bennati can challenge him (or whoever is the strongest in the end) for the points jersey, though.

Yep, sure was a great choice sending Bakelants here. Absolutely no competition...

I sent Pozzato here because it helped max out his race days

Nice move to send him there, should be a great point haul. Good luck to all in Italy, i am very much looking forward to this extreme level of competitive racing.

Well, Gesink won't be racing for a while, so someone has to take his place

I have Chris Anker and Bauke Mollema as joint leaders, so it doesn't really matter if they crash or not - I still won't get anything from the race

What. The. Fuck.
Deeply disappointed for the second time this season already.
Congrats to Milka nevertheless, the finish seemed to require a late kick.
