[Crit] The Herald Cycle Series - Race 2
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_72.jpg

Today it`s time for the puncheurs to ride more aggressive to avoid a sprint finish. The course is not very hard, so they surely need to attack. Favourites are Chaoufi, Konte and Ngue.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_74.jpg

After the first uphill section we have a breakaway of four.
Uwimana
Ansons
Haddi
Dawit (Jaguar)
In especially first two are very interesting as both were collecting small points in yesterdays sprint finish.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_76.jpg

One lap later Haddi lost contact but we can see more riders trying to bridge the gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_80.jpg

3/10 laps and more attacks. It`s Fouche, who was probably the big impace yesterday for Day`s win. He is followed by Haddi again as also Kolar.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_82.jpg

But no chance for these 3. Iran, Africa Mix 1 and Tunesia have increased the pace and catch the latest attackers, while the breakaway of 3 still have a 90s gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_84.jpg

33km to go and the gap is at 2'30. Ngue`s Mix 1 team is taking over now with all 4 helpers.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_86.jpg

We almost reach the half of the race and we see the first serious attacks. Konte (Mix2) and Vysna with the next attack. Seeing that 2 of todays favourites already attack this might be an important phase now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_89.jpg

1 lap later and 25km to the finish we have lots of new attacks. The actual situation is like this:
Uwimana Vysna Bakke
Ansons<1'23> Ben Matoog<23> Konte<14>Peloton
Dawit Ashgarzadeh Kangangi
It seems like the Konte group did stop their ambitions after losing contact and fall back again.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_91.jpg

Obviously not. After a short moment of disunity Konte was obviously able to convince them and they join the other group making it a group of 6 chasing the former breakaway.
Breakaway<1'09>Gr. Konte<35>Peloton
No question this is making it very dangerous for the favourites, who stayed behind.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_93.jpg

African Mix 1 for Ngue is still doing the most and are supported by MTN and Morocco.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_95.jpg

2,5 laps to go and the two breakaways did fusion. 9 riders with a 1'28 advance with 13km to go including some of the favourites.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_98.jpg

Trautmanis and Meintjes are the first to react. Both attack out of the peloton. MTN as they don`t have a rider in the group and Trautmanis as Ansons surely is one of the weaker riders in front now being part of the early breakaway.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_101.jpg

Final lap and they still have a 1min advantage to the duo and 20s more to the peloton. Surely the winner will come out of this group now. Huge disappointment surely for Ngue and Chaoufi.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_103.jpg

Well. At least they try it again. Probably too late but who knows.
Chaoufi
Ngue
Rabie

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_107.jpg

Also in the group the first riders try to avoid a sprint with Konte. So Ashgarzadeh and Kangangi attack but can`t really open a gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_109.jpg

Less than 2km left and still more than 1min. So maximum is the 10th now which is rewarded with 1 point. Chaoufi attacks again.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_111.jpg

The last km is reached and the sprint has started. Kangangi in a very good position, so is Konte. Vysna, Ben Matoog and Bakke still in the fight for the win while the others have opened a small gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_114.jpg

Kangangi went too early. He was overtaken by Konte and also the others are coming fast from behind.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_116.jpg

And Konte is taking the win. As only one of the 3 top favourites he was in the early attacks and had the right feeling.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_117.jpg

Close fight for the 2nd. Ben Matoog takes it ahead of Vysna. Kangangi and Bakke follow ahead of Ashgarzadeh.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_118.jpg

Dawit, Ansons and Uwimana coming in next being rewarded for the early breakaway attempt. They fought until the last lap to keep contact. Last two might climb a bit in the overall now having scored on both races so far.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Krit%20RSA%202013/mg_crit_RSA_2_119.jpg

Disappointing 10th for Chaoufi. He surely expected more from this race but didn`t have the right nose for the attacks with ~30km to go.
