Welcome to the HQ of the Spanish team TAP - Michelin!
After a conflict with the officials the Portuguese Football Club Sporting Clube de Portugal and another Portuguese company decided to stop the sponsorship of a cycling team. Desperately it was looked for new sponsors. Because of the number of French riders in this team the French Tire Company Michelin decided to sign for a sponsorship of one year. The same decision made the Portuguese Airline TAP Portugal, also for one year.
The to make the nationality of the team spanish is because of the financial crisis there. Because of the sponoring, Spanish people think that Michelin is just great, because a tires from a cycling sponsoring company can just be great!
The reason TAP is mentioned first in the Team Name is that it just sounds cooler!

He got wildcards for Tour and Vuelta if I am correct. Plus many other races

Only the Tour. The Giro spot was removed and given the AXA-Pinerello 2 weeks a go due to a "scheduling" issue
(you dont have enough race days to send a full team to all races)
