Press Release

---

The Rapha Condor Continental Cycling Team are delighted to announce a new sponsorship deal with the JLT Group, an international group of Risk Specialists and Employee Benefits Consultants, for the 2013 season. 2013 will mark the sixth season that Rapha Condor has sponsored a British UCI registered team and the partnership with JLT will underline the team’s significant commitment to the future of British cycling, as the team continues to focus on its overarching goal of developing young British talent.

The JLT Group’s involvement marks the second time that the team has attracted a major international company to back the sport in the UK, after a successful three year partnership with Sharp saw the electronics manufacturer increase its sponsorship of professional cycling to World Tour level. The Jardine Lloyd Thompson group of Insurance Brokers is one of the largest of its type in the world and their ethos of offering a distinctive choice to their clients and partners through their combination of independence and specialism is something that relates strongly to the identity of the Rapha Condor team and the brands that it represents.

Rapha CEO, Simon Mottram, is delighted by JLT’s sponsorship.

“After a successful season with the team it is wonderful to have attracted another global company to cycling and to help us continue our journey developing younger riders.”

Grant Young of Condor cycles was delighted to welcome a new sponsor to both the team and the sport of cycling,

“We can’t wait for the 2013 to start, this is the next chapter in an exciting adventure for British cycle sport and the team. I am pleased we can work with another sponsor who understands our approach, ethics, passion for developing the sport from the grass roots up to the sky.”

Meetings between the team management and JLT first took place when Charlie Pearch, a senior partner at the company as well as a longtime supporter of the team, saw the opportunity for JLT to sponsor one of the country’s most influential cycling teams.

"Our participation in this venture with Rapha Condor fulfills our desire to help sport at grass roots level, particularly where our involvement can deliver meaningful value. We not only want to encourage the younger generation to live a healthy lifestyle but to be a voice of mutual respect between all road users. Our expectation is that the Rapha Condor JLT team will continue to perform well under the most respected of Directeur Sportifs but it is as important for us that the team races with style and panache and in its own well-loved and inimitable style to represent the very best of British cycling.”

The team, who recently revealed an even younger line-up for 2013, will be focused once again on continuing the work that they started this year which saw impressive performances by the young team and was capped with Mike Cuming’s becoming the U23 National Road Race Champion.

Team manager Geoff Manning commented,

“I am delighted that JLT share our enthusiasm about the way that this team aims to work with young riders. JLT understood this very quickly and they recognised that in the current environment in cycling a team like ours will educate young riders into making the correct choices.”

“I have been really pleased with the progress that these riders have made in the last twelve months, and I think that next year we will start to see the results of the work that these young guys have put in as they put into practice what they’ve learned. We have redesigned our programme with the new young riders in mind, putting a focus on getting these guys racing and winning, and I am sure that it will be a great year.”

Can I post?
Anyway, good luck with this story!
Just one question: Wouldn't it be smarter to wait for the Daily 2013 DB V1?

Of course, thanks.

When will V1 be ready? I haven't started just yet, I need to do a little editing before I get going. I'm just laying the foundations for the story.

Road racing is the toughest and most beautiful sport in the world. It makes enormous physical and psychological demands on road riders. They need clothing that is as well designed as their titanium or carbon fibre road bike.

Rapha products bring new standards of design to cycling clothing. They have been conceived by road riders, working with leading technical sportswear designers. Every detail has been developed with the rider in mind. Every material has been chosen because it is the best in the world at its job.

Road riders should not have to compromise between performance and style. So Rapha performance roadwear goes beyond simple function. Pared down styling, a tailored fit and quality construction make every product beautiful to wear and a pleasure to own.

Road racing requires stamina, strength, mental focus and fortitude. But the rewards are huge and grow the more effort you put into it.

More and more people are discovering that riding a road bike can be the perfect counterpoint to our cosseted and quick-fix modern lives. We’ve become so used to instant gratification and sanitised pleasure that we have forgotten that the greatest highs come from the deepest lows, that there is a unique satisfaction from applying yourself totally, then seeing the results. From pain comes pleasure.

Condor bicycles have been ridden to World Championship gold medals, ridden in the Tour de France, and have been the choice of many figures in the public limelight, ranging from judges to rock stars. Few brands can claim to have their bikes ridden by cycling household names including Tom Simpson and Bradley Wiggins.

Today’s bicycles take inspiration from over sixty of heritage and experience designing and manufacturing frames in a range of materials.
As more and more marques take their manufacturing to the Far East, we continue to produce our frames by hand in Italy. Frames are constructed from our own selection of tubing and built to our own unique specifications that has been developed, tried and tested. Experience has taught us how to utilise the steel, titanium and carbon and create bicycles that will get the best of our each rider.

Rapha Condor JLT Team Bike

From international stage races to high adrenaline criteriums, and from mountain top finishes to mass sprints, for the past six years the Condor Leggero has been the signature team bike for Rapha Condor team riders. Over this time, the Leggero has helped the team’s riders to double King of the Mountain victories in the Tour of Britain, a multitude of high profile criterium wins as well as multiple National Championship victories.

Whilst the model name has remained the same though, the Leggero frameset has been constantly evolving through rider testing and feedback, as well as tweaks in the manufacturing processes and improvements in the design and technology of the frame.

In 2013 the Leggero returns in its unmistakable black high gloss finish and continues to be built by hand in Italy by Condor where the carbon tubes are hand cut and wrapped with layers of carbon. To complement the Italian made frame, the team will use Italian made componentry in the shape of Campagnolo Record EPS, electronic 11-speed groupset. Riders will use Campagnolo Shamal Ultra wheelset with carbon hubs for training and long stage races and Campagnolo Bora deep section for time trials and criteriums fitted with Continental tyres.

Team Leader, Kristian House explained, “I’ve been using electronic groupsets for the past few years and can’t imagine anything else. Campagnolo electronic groupsets are really easy to use and instantly I felt at home with the Record, it is great to be using a legendary brand that has stylish design at its core.”

The bikes are fitted with Fizik custom saddles and Deda M35 bars and stems. Speedplay provide the bikes finishing touch with a pink version of their excellent pedal system.

Team manager Geoff Manning was delighted with the team’s new partnership with Speedplay for 2013. “As the focus of this team is on the long term development of our riders it is really important for us to look at providing them with equipment that is best suited to avoiding any kinds of injuries as riders mature physically. We have done extensive testing with the sports scientists at the Claremont hospital to try to ascertain the best pedal system to help avoid injury and to allow the best possible power transfer. Speedplay came out top and I’m really pleased they are on board with the team.”

Do you intend on doing the British Premier Calendar Wink

Very nice layout!

Though I have to admit I was pretty confused when I read "PCMDaily 2013 Preview Edition", as I thought JLT was just a typo and it's a one-rider story about Tiernan-Locke Grin

Ha, an easy mistake to make I think!

No there is no add-on, but you will find the events at the British Cycling website Wink

I wasn't sure whether all of those are in the game/database. Also I wasn't sure whether there is a overall Premier Calendar winner in the game, I've never rode in the events before.

But to answer your question, yes, I'll be applying for a place in every British race!

You can download lots of British races from the stage database.

Amazing preview but I wouldn't start it with this DB. Wait till the final V1 comes out because there will be better stats, more actual race routes, graphics etc.

And good luck! Wink

I'm new to PCM and that sound pretty complicated, is there a guide? I'd like as much realism as possible so adding the Tour Series races would be great.

Thanks for the good luck. I think I will wait until the new DB is finalised and then use that.
