Hey everyone, back when i played pcm 2009 in career mode I never made use of the training camp feature (not even pre-season) as I had the feeling that the computer teams didn't use them either. I found that they made it all too easy to bump a rider's specific skill (or a rider's shape early in the season) to an artificially high level without giving computer controlled teams the same option.
Now I just started playing pcm 2012 and I'm wondering whether the computer teams don't use it in this version either. If they don't, then I won't use it, if they do, I'll look into it..

thanks in advance,
As far as I know they still don't.

Realistically though, in professional cycling, riders train specifically on certain things to ensure that part of their skill set is enhanced for a certain part of the season. They don't not do it because other teams aren't training on the same aspect. I think it's a great part of the game. If you stick a block of 10 training days in before the start of a stage race, your fitness is going to suffer by not being able to get in race fitness in other races beforehand.
Maybe its just my inner geek loving being able to plan, execute, control and target specific types of races with certain riders that finds this very appealing.
Some major differences of this game to reality:
1. The stages are in 1:10 scale.
2. The AI teams are not managed. This game is you vs. AI
3. No doping. (but you can use training camps to gain an advantage to other riders)
4. 3D race difficulty setting affects rider stats.
Since training camps and difficulty both alter the rider stats, it is pointless (in my opinion) to use training camps because it is easier to lower the difficulty if you cannot win races.
