The Astro Kid presents The Astro League, formerly known as The Diamond League.
About
The Diamond League was the birthname given to a fantasy cycling league I created. Only season 2 was fully reported on pcmdaily, but the game still continued without the reports. Later, The "Astro Kid" took over and re-branded the league as The Astro League at the end of 2015. That's where the story re-commences (click)
League Champions
2011 - Robert Gesink
2012 - Alejandro Valverde
2013 - Simon Gerrans
2014 - Vincenzo Nibali
2015 - Vincenzo Nibali
2016 - ?
Acknowledgements
Credit for mpardo for the idea of using stage race mode for reports, and also for some of his stages which are used throughout the story.
Credit also to various shirt-makers whom I've neglected to credit thus far, I'll try to remember to credit any graphics, jerseys etc in the future.

FINAL RANKINGS
If a magical Giro-Tour double doesn't win you the final rankings, something is very wrong - well done to Robert Gesink!
A certain mountaineer scored most of Rabobank's points, but Lars Boom chipped in to secure the title for the dutch team. Thorn and FDJ face the drop.
Contador, Valverde and Sammy Sanchez scored points galore at the Vuelta to tip this ranking in Spain's favour

SEASON 1 TRANSFER WINDOW
Some team changes should be noted before we look at the transfers and move onto the new season.
Promoted to the Diamond League from the lower divison (let's call it the... Sapphire League ):
Bouygues
Joker
Meanwhile:
Euskaltel -> Saunier
Katusha -> Tinkoff
Serramenti -> Androni
Saxo Bank -> CSC
Phew, now the transfers:
You will see the riders are split into "Levels" that determine the strength of their stats. They are free to move between levels at the end of a season, based (objectively) on their season's performance.
Key: SRA = Stage Racer, rest should be familiar.
The main transfers, ie the top level (lvl 4) riders who switched teams:
Name | Type | Lvl (S2) | From | To | Contador | SRA | 4 | Liberty | Caisse | Hoste | COB | 4 | Lotto | Lampre | Menchov | SRA | 4 | Katusha | Lotto | Quintana | MO | 4 | Serramenti | Liberty | Quinziato | COB | 4 | Liquigas | Androni |
And, less interesting, the other transfers, including some brand new faces.
Spoiler Name | Type | Lvl (S2) | From | To | Costa R | PUN | 3 | Liberty | Drapac | Dockx | COB | 3 | Lotto | Cervelo | Duggan | MO | 3 | BMC | Liquigas | Dyachenko | MO | 3 | Astana | Tinkoff | Greipel | SPR | 3 | Thorn | Vacansoleil | Hunter | SPR | 3 | Barloworld | Liberty | Hushovd | SPR | 3 | Cervelo | Caisse | Jungels | COB | 3 | - | Barloworld | Kreuziger | SRA | 3 | - | Joker | Martin | TT | 3 | Thorn | Androni | Oss | COB | 3 | - | Saunier | Phinney | TT | 3 | BMC | Lotto | Roche | SRA | 3 | - | Bouygues | Sijmens | COB | 3 | Cofidis | BMC | Uran | PUN | 3 | Serramenti | Cofidis | Van den Broeck | SRA | 3 | Lotto | Astana | Brajkovic | SRA | 2 | - | Saxo Bank | Burghardt | COB | 2 | Thorn | Lotto | De Gendt | SRA | 2 | - | Vacansoleil | Eisel | COB | 2 | Thorn | Lampre | Flecha | COB | 2 | Caisse | Androni | Frank | MO | 2 | Cervelo | Bouygues | Galimzyanov | SPR | 2 | Katusha | Astana | Hesjedal | SRA | 2 | - | Cervelo | Hoogerland | PUN | 2 | Vacansoleil | Bouygues | Ladagnous | COB | 2 | - | Caisse | Larsson | TT | 2 | - | Cervelo | Malori | TT | 2 | - | BMC | Millar | TT | 2 | - | Saunier | Monfort | SRA | 2 | - | Cofidis | Nerz | MO | 2 | Thorn | Lampre | Popovych | SRA | 2 | - | Saunier | Rast | COB | 2 | - | Tinkoff | Schleck F | MO | 2 | Saxo Bank | Joker | Silin | SRA | 2 | - | Astana | TGVG | SRA | 2 | - | BMC | Ventoso | SPR | 2 | Caisse | Saxo Bank | Verdugo | MO | 2 | Euskaltel | Tinkoff | Visconti | PUN | 2 | Lampre | Joker | Beppu | COB | 1 | - | Liberty | Broco | SRA | 1 | Liberty | Joker | Capecchi | SRA | 1 | - | Bouygues | Casper | SPR | 1 | FDJ | Joker | Castroviejo | TT | 1 | - | Bouygues | Chavanel Seb | SPR | 1 | FDJ | Bouygues | Cobo | SRA | 1 | - | Saunier | Dumoulin | SPR | 1 | Cofidis | Lampre | Fedrigo | PUN | 1 | FDJ | Cervelo | Geslin | SPR | 1 | FDJ | Joker | Gilbert | PUN | 1 | FDJ | BMC | Kessiakoff | TT | 1 | - | Joker | Kiryienka | TT | 1 | Caisse | Bouygues | Koren | TT | 1 | - | Joker | Navarro | MO | 1 | Liberty | Caisse | Petrov | MO | 1 | Katusha | Lampre | Pinot | MO | 1 | FDJ | Lotto | Pozzato | COB | 1 | - | Tinkoff | Roy | TT | 1 | FDJ | Cofidis | Talansky | SRA | 1 | - | BMC | Turgot | COB | 1 | - | Bouygues | Willems | COB | 1 | Lotto | Cervelo | Zubeldia | SRA | 1 | - | Tinkoff |

@Ian Butler - Probably nothing much haha. Things will probably be similar to my old "neutral story" threads or mpardo's story, but hopefully it will add something a bit different too. Thanks for the kind words

@Luigi Haha yes, well it was certainly a shock. I'm curious to see whether he can maintain his performance this season or whether he will crumble under the pressure.
I now created the transfers part. Moving quite quickly since I'm all ready to begin with the new season, but I'm sure anyone interested will have plenty of time to scroll through the information before season 2 gets into full flow.
Any questions about the structure are welcome, cause it probably seems a bit "numbery" and heavy right now. Some information might be kept secret from the readers though haha. |

Well the 'game' part is brand new so i think everyone is in the dark right now. The reporting style will be similar is what I meant, cause it's all from the perspective of a control team (boo, boring! ) |

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The results from various National Championships are in, to decide who has the honour of wearing their coveted national jersey throughout the season.
Notable results come in the form of double-champions Taylor Phinney (USA), Lars Yting Bak (Denmark) and especially 20-year old Bob Jungels (Luxembourg).
Also Rick Flens made up for his dissapointment at the CRC by winning the Dutch Road Race. The finish line showed at a more favourable moment this time
Less surprising results come in the shape of title defences for Fabian Cancellara, Stijn Devolder and Tony Martin in their respective ITT races, and South African puncheur Songezo Jim destroyed the field to win the South African jersey for the second year running - watch out for him this season.
Full list:
