I'm going to stay with pcm 2006 a while longer, but just wondered if the new game is any good by now and would be worth the money? |

I like the management part, as it had a decent overhaul (not a huge one) and the menus are quite a bit easier to use. it's much more noticeable when you get used to them and then go back to the previous PCM. it's when you realise how hard to use they were.
plus I like the variety that form of the day brings.
I'm not sure that it's worth the money though. and my main concern is a simple one: breaks very rarely make it. it's unreal how few make it. and that is one thing that I just HATE.
it's simple to fix, but tedious: you'd have to raise the Stamina of every rider a bit in the DB. but that's really a workaround, not a solution.
so, in short, I'm on the fence. there's some good points, but still some bad ones.
the DBs are certainly

well 49% of our members thing PCM07 is the best PCM until now. That's a bit dubious though as i'm sure 07 is the only one some have tried
I really like the management part as well, and even though some people say the graphics are awful, i think they are around about the same as PCM06 but in a slightly different style.
The main problem for PCM07 in the debate between it and PCM06 is, PPDB. Obviously there is no PPDB for 07 which isn't very good for the game. There is the PCM Spain which is a great pack, but obviously nothing as huge and great as the PPDB's.
and to be truthfully honest i prefer PCM06 for it's graphics and PPDB, but PCM07 for it's management, it's really a question of which is more important for you the manangement section or the 3D gameplay.
and you just have to read Guido's Predictor - Lotto story to see how enjoyable the game is
but yet again Talley's Atom story with PCM06 isn't bad either
(i know, that didn't help you at all)

that is extremely debatable, to say the least

Well, having a bazillion of teams and riders are good. My main gripe is having a bazillion of races that i have to sim through. In the standard PCM07 DB i'd be past February once i reach the end of January in PPDB. PCM Spain sorta hits the middle road but it doesnt have enough exotic non-european teams for my liking.

of course it's good. and playing with small teams, it's great, it works beautifully. now here's the bad part: even after the latest stats shake-up, the stats of top riders are still highly inflated, meaning nobody drops anybody and classics and mountain stages all end up with all the favorites together sprinting towards the line. which means stage races are won by the best time triallist with almost no differences in mountain stages.

don't get it, you mean the ppdb database ?
i just recently switched to pcm3/pcm-spain from pcm2/ppdb .... very, very hard to say whats better (and very subjective)
before the laterst patch it was a clear win for ppdb, but now for me, pcm+spain has the edge (form of the day, presentation....)
its simply something new after 1 year of pcm2

100% agree.
In terms of comparing projects: Plakker's ones are way, way over mines. Why? Simply because he was the first one to reach people-liked standards. |

Ive grown to prefer PCM07 over PCM06.
Even in low graphics, I think that the jerseys look better in PCM07 for me.
The management layout, design (all of it really) is better.
Form of the day makes races more interesting.
I actually prefer PCM Spain 2007 to PPDB, its not as big and theres too many riders with high stats in PPDB imo.
But its true what Isso says about breakaways, plus there are some flaws in PCM07 as you would expect from Cyanide.
