The stage to Rome always has an interesting conclusion. In 2007, Ivan Stevic attacked on the last few steep climbs and won, in 2006 Yaroslav Popovych did the exact same thing and in 2004 Lance Armsrtong took victory .. in a sprint.
Alexandr Efimkin was one of 7 who tested the peleton today, but the peleton had learnt their lessons and the break were caught with plenty of time to go.
The riders reached Rome and the peleton have a sharp steep climb that will disrupt the sprinters. Pasamontes and Bole have a gap after the first 2 climbswith jkust 4.3km to go and 1 climb/descent of the hill to go.
Bole is caught but Pasamontes keeps going and leads the sprint, with American national champ Lucas Euser leading the chase.
Euser works perfectly for his teammate Galdos but Agritubel's Poulhies has a gap, Galdos draws alongside him going into the final turn.
And Poulhies stops sprinting! Galdos wins!
Poulhies is 2nd while the locals can be very happy with their national champion Euser in 3rd and Tyler Farrar in 5th.
