After some tough stages in the mountains we continue -- in the mountains! Wink This stage is not nearly as difficult, though, as we only have to pass two mountains. Also, there's a long flat part between them, meaning that the riders can recover from the damages done on the first mountain -- if any at all, of course.

It took a while before the first riders had the guts to attack (Pfft). First attacked Facci, then later on, Vaugrenard decided to give it attack. That also meant that they didn't end up working together, making their try even more impossible.
In the peloton, everything was pretty calm, also on the first mountain. Andy Schleck attacked at the top for mountain points, and he ended up forming a group of solid climbers. None of them were interested in working, though, so they got caught shortly after. It also meant the end of the day for Vaugrenard.

So, as you can see, we can just as well fast forward to the next climb. With 40 km to go (on the mountain) it's over for Facci. It takes another 20 km before anything happens.
Gadret attacks! Unfortunately for him, it seems like the high pace is too much for him, so basically he only gets just in front of the peloton before he stops. Same goes for Simoni and Parra Pinto -- but then, the champion of them all, Cunego, teaches them how to do it!

Sella, Ricco and Garzelli go after him, but they just can't follow him. Instead, they form their own group. At the top, the peloton got 37 seconds up to the Ricco-group and 1'17 to the mighty Cunego. The rest of the stage is downhill, so I guess it's sealed.
And it certainly is. Cunego takes a dominant win on a boring stage where no one tried to do anything to Cunego.
