Pervyj Cycling HQ - CT Prediction

Pervyj Cycling

Pervyj Cycling (with the pronounciation PER) is on the wings onto professional cycling. The budget is made up by several great sponsors but the major is the ukranian tv channel Pervyj, and the belarussian finance company Belshyna. The team will be riding on bicycles from Time, and the jersey will look like this:

Pervyj wants to improve the cycling sport in East Europe in general. To do this we need to have our base here, and from the ca. 25 riders the team will be build up by, around 12-13 will be from Ukraine, 5-6 from Belarus, and we will also have riders from other places in East Europe. To get international accomplished though, we also need some good riders from other and bigger countries, and we want to make contracts with good riders mainly from Germany and Italy in the west, because this is the countries we in Ukraine have biggest relations to.

The first rider have arrived Ukraine

Pervyj's team manager Jeronim Sejlev confirmed lately the rumours spread by a forum user at PCMDaily called theManxMissile, which involved the transfer of Enrico Gasparotto to the Pervyj Team.

- We are very delighted to finally be able to sign a rider at that level. Enrico is a rider we can trust are making good results through the seasons, and will be our captain in the hilly classics. He will probably end up as our best rider, and he has so much experience that he also can be a great mentor for our younger talents. This is indeed a great signing for us, and we hope that he can continue the great progress he has made through the last years. We hope for many unforgettable moments in the next two years.

Sejlev delighted to present two new riders

In the last new days many great riders have switched teams, and also Pervyj is getting their amount. Lastly Kanstantin Siutsou and Rinaldo Nocentini were presented to the media.

Here's the reactions from Directeur Sportif Sejlev
- We hadn't much hope for a top-class rider two days ago, but to end up with Siutsou, who is one of the best riders from Belarus, actually was the best we could hope for. Nocentini yesterday was also our biggest hope, and he would be a perfect helper for Gasparotto in the classics. Both of them are riders of a great potential, and it would be fantastic getting both of them in my team.

Sejlev also starts making a list for candidates to sign today:
The chances are not at the best, so we are hoping for a national rider, and definitely from our region. We are hoping for a sprinter close to the border, a tt talent even closer, a great climber from one of the two countries as well as two riders with nearly even names:

New riders with Pervyj Cycling

- Jeronim Sejlev, manager at Pervyj Cycling

Since last time, Pervyj has signed three new riders to their new team. All of them are from East Europe, and this reflects the strategy of the team by making a good base in this region. Pervyj has a goal of making it into the World Tour within two years, and at this point the team is not good enough. Still, there are many places left on the team, and with a good bundle of helpers with strength on the flat, and some more specialized riders the team can look very good.

The first signing is the best home rider, Yaroslav Popovych; It was not a surprise to see the Ukranian star sign with the only Ukranian team in the game. Yaroslav is a real all-rounder, and will probably be the most important helper. He has power on the flat, he is good riding upwards, and supreme downwards. He can also make it ok in the cobbled classics. As well as being an important part of the team in the biggest races, Yaroslav will also help the young talents from Ukrania (they will be announced soon). We need an experienced rider from the home country; he is the idol of many of the youngsters and will therefore bi ideal to have in the team.

The second signing is Tomas Vaitkus from Lithuania. He was one of the most talentful boys in the peloton in his younger days, but he fell a bit behind, and it is one of our duties to get him back to the world elite. Tomas will be our captain when (if) we are meeting cobbled races in the future. He will also get his chances in the sprints.

The last signing is one more helper for our captain Gasparotto, and in the czech Zdenek Stybar we find everything we are looking for. Zdenek has been one of the best riders in CycloCross the last years and with his recent priority of road cycling he has still a lot of potential, which we haven't yet seen. Zdenek is a great rider in the short, steep climbs and he would fit perfectly in in our Ardenne team.

The only very weak point in the team at this point is the amount of young riders under 26, which is noone. We are in dialogue with some of the talents back in Ukraine, but I am sorry to say, that these will not work into great superstars in the sports. Therefore we will look for new young intertaional talents in the next days, and hopefully we can sign a few of the biggest talents in the world soon. We had a dialogue with Marcel Kwiatkowski in the lst days, but this bird unfortunately left its nest. Luckily there are more fish in the sea.

More riders join Pervyj

- Jeronim Sejlev, directeur sportif

The continental tour looks stronger and stronger every day, but so do Pervyj, the ukranian pride, have grown a lot. Since thursday as much as 6 riders have joined their ranks, and I am very happy about the teams new signings. We have now got 3 new great talents, and also 3 riders who can make good results for the team, and Pervyj starts to look like a real contender to the World Tour already next year. The 6 newcomers is written about here:

Fabio Felline

Fabio is one of the biggest talents in the sport at the time. He can make out to be a world-class sprinter, and in a few years he can climb the "classic"mountains like noone else. He can also progress to win TT-races. Fabio reminds me of our captain Enrico Gasparotto when he was Fabios age, and that means a lot. Though Fabio is still a youngster, we expect results from him, and even more for the next years. No doubt we have got a rider many teams will regret they didn't sign.

Marko Kump

In Marko we see almost the same things as in Fabio, but I think he has come longer than Fabio at this point. Marko can already claim victories in the smaller mass sprints, and he is also a rider who can keep up with the peloton on the more hilly races. While Fabio is more of an all-rounder, Marko will be a 100 % sprinter, and we hope that he can make great results already at the first season, because we have only signed him for one year.

Yegor Dementyev

Yegor is the biggest talent in at home. He is young and have potential to be a good ardenne-rider, but we don't expect much of him in the first season.

Maurizio Biondo

Maurizio will be a super-helper for our team, and he is the first to get into the Giro if we get a Wild-Card. He has great strength, can ride good at time trials and ttts, but most of all he will be Pervyjs major helper for the sprints. Maurizio is just back from a doping penalty, but in our team we have strict rules so we know he won't try again.

Mykhailo Khalilov

Maybe he is old, but still he is one of the best ukranian riders from vintage. He still has the power to sprint and to follow up the hills, but we don't know how much longer he helds. The 1-year contract is safe, though.

Vladimir Efimkin

Vladimir defintely know how to make it to the top in GCs. It is a long time since last time he competed in the biggest races, but we really believe in him, and therefore he is signed for 3 years, until 2014.

This means we now have 12 riders on contract, and are about halfway through the team. Although we have strong riders in every terrain, we have world-class winners and world-class helpers, we have talents and veterans. No doubt that I look forward to the season.

Pervyj is nearly finished with the team making. Only 4 riders remains before the team is ready for the CT. The 8 new riders includes 4 from Ukraine and 1 from Belarus, as well as Matteo Montaguti, Gediminas Bagdonas and Rene Mandri. We are hoping that the 4 remain places will go to our sponsor countries, but the chances are very small actually.

We are also waiting for a new jersey, where we switch out the red in the jersey with a yellow colour. The actual jersey will still be used, as a possible Russian champions jersey.

Ollfardh
Got to say, you deserve the sponsor award with that impossible roster!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

The last signings are ready

Four signings remained from the Pervyj team to be ready for the season, but in the last second a fifth rider moved to our team. Rein Taaramae stuck his old team in the back and decided that Pervyj was the best choice for him. The estonian will now be our leader in the Giro (hopefully) and our captain for every other stage race in our calendar.

Also the four other riders is ready now. We wanted two riders from Ukraine and two from Belarus to complete our roster, and we have completed this. The ukranian are time trialist Vitaliy Popkov and the talent (?) Vladyslav Bakumenko. From Belarus do we get the excellent climber Branislau Samoilau and the youngster Siarhei Novikau. The first training camp is done in Arco by the Garda lake, and the team is coming well together.

We haven't made uup our calendar yet, as we are waiting for the Wild-cards to be accepted. We have of course applied at all the Italian races (Giro di Italia, Giro di Lombardia, Tirreno-Adriatico and Milano-San Remo) as well as the Ardenne classics where we have one of the best teams and the biggest favourites. Because of that we have also applied for Vuelta al Pais Vasco to get the best preparation possible. The last race we have applied for is the Tour of Pologne, which will be our home race in the World Tour this season.

PS: The official jersey will soon be ready and we hope to halso have a NC Jersey for Grivko and Bagdonas. This depends on the internet connection of an unstable graphician back in Norway.

- Jeronim Sejlev, head coach

@Olifardh: Thank you! This roster is actually pretty good, but of course there are great differences between the strongest and the weakest riders, as it is in many teams (especially CT)

Agree with Ollfardh, you choose a difficult sponsor nation but the team looks good though. Especially some Italian riders like GasparottoAngryPfft

Thank you! I like the challenge, but I still think thatit is better to be the only ukranian than the sixth english Smile found out i'm still on the right side of the nationality bonus with taaramae. Was afraid for a minute!
