Welcome to the Team Lunar Industries HQ page. From here our media team will keep you update on all the teams going on in the UCPCL. From draft rounds to drinks rounds to the roundness of our apples we will keep you abreast of as much as is possible.
Team Lunar Industries is a brand new creation, with 2 major sponsors. The first is Lunar Industries, an American Energy firm with a difference. The second is the Umbrella Corporation, a British Pharmaceutical company with a difference. So lets meet the teams backers.
So that is an introduction to who Lunar Industries are and what they do. This energy firm harvest Helium3 from the Moon. They send it back, and use it to power 70% of the Earth. The best part about HE3 is that it has very few dirty outputs. This means that global warming is almost no longer an issue on the planet.
Lunar Industries are the teams main sponsor, and as such would like a large American contingent in the squad. We are certain this can be met. Lunar Industries are also supplying the team's medical support team in the form of a GERTY.
So that is a sort of introduction to the Umbrella Corporation. Here is a less disturbing one.
At the beginning of the 21st century the Umbrella Corporation had become the largest commercial entity in the United States.
Nine out of every ten homes contain it's products. It's political and financial influence is felt everywhere.
In public it is the world's leading supplier of Computer Technology, Medical Products and Health Care.
Unknown, even to its own employees its profits are generated by Military Technology, Genetic Experimentation and Viral Weaponry.
So lots of potential for help from Umbrella. They are willing to provide us with whatever we need to get the edge on our opposition.

Team Lunar Industries are chasing up a number of riders ahead of the new season. Top of the list at the moment is American, Robert Ulriksson.
Ulriksson is from Minesota, and is a strong puncher and cobbles rider.
Lunar Industries would very much like to have the american on the roster, and have put down what they view as a good offer.
More generally other targets include Maxime Oget, Chris Froome, Fabian Cancellara and Mark Cavendish. It is not yet clear where the teams focus will be. The most likely outcome will be a team like the old HTC-Highroad, sprinter focused with ability to win almost everywhere else.
TLI get off to a bad start. Ulriksson did not decide to sign for Team Lunar Industries. Being spurned right out of the gates is not great for moral.
However the team is attempting to bounce back. It has re=doubled its efforts to sign Oget, another American puncher.
One of the teams agents has also been seen in Asia, and rumors are circulating that an offer may be made to Kim Po-ding.
Also the WT draft order was released. TLI have been lucky to get second pick in the opening round, and round 3. This means almost free choice over the team leader. Of course this is balanced by 15th pick in rounds 2 and 4. But hopes are that a good leader will bring in the points.

I hav rode for many amtuer teams for many years, it has been difficult as I started the sport late but I think my rookie year will be great.

As you know Maxime Oget has signed with the team! This has given us a boost as we head towards the draft.
It has also been announced that we will get second pick in Round 1. I am not yet sure who we will go for, but they will be a huge name which the team will be built around.
We are also in contact with 2 other potential riders for the 2012 season.
Sponsors. As you could see we are registered with French license. This is because we have links with some French sponsors, which we can now reveal.
We have agreed a deal to partner Ligue 1 2011-12 winners Montpellier HSC. We will sport their badge on our jersey and link up for some joint events.
Montpellier are sponsored by Sud de France, the tourist board for southern France. So we now also sport their logo on the sides of the jersey.
Finally we have agreed to link with Remi Gaillard. Remi is a known Montpellier fan, and he is not opposed to cycling.
All these are more for publicity than money, and we will return the favor by signing some big french names if possible.
And here is a video showing Remi's views on cyclists.
also the jersey has been updated, and can be seen above.
Dag Jensen, a young Swede has signed with TLI today. This young nordic star is a hot prospect for the future, and here at Team Lunar industries we have locked him in for 2 seasons. We are very excited and see a good future for him. Expect to see posts from him soon.
Today the "UCI" announced the final 6 World Tour teams. We were at the press conference. No nerves, just seeing first hand how we will be battling with in this inaugural season.
We have picked out two teams to keep an eye on. The first is In-n-Out Original Joe's, managed by maxime86. The second is Barry's Maple Leaf Racing, managed by Welwyn.
Both these teams have presence in North America and are thus on our radar for the coming season. If we had to pick one rival, i would say In-n-Out Original Joe's. We look forward to beating them.
Other interesting teams include: ITV ProCycling, another team with British backing, and Caterham-Austar, with a British main sponsor. Again we see a potential rivalry with these teams due to our shared British backing.
Finally, Team Lunar Industries will be holding a Press Conference just before the Draft begins. So if there are any questions or comments, now is the chance to get them in.
So here we are, 4 rounds into the draft. These were the WT only rounds, but rounds 3 and 4 were restricted.
Round 1:
We started with second pick. This gave us a chance to nail in a strong leader. There was only one choice in our minds... Mark Cavendish!
Spoiler
The Manx Missile is the greatest sprinter in the world right now. He has been top of the sprinting tree since 2008 and is showing no signs of slowing down. GERTY Rating:
Spoiler
Round 2:
And with the serpentine we slide to 15th pick. We were hoping for a top class french rider, but missed out, instead getting a cobbles leader from Spain... Juan Antonio Flecha!
Spoiler
Flecha is a top class Classics rider. He has never got that massive win he is capable of. He has few good years left to bag that win. GERTY Rating:
Round 3:
The first restricted round. A great chance to get a good american on board. We decided to get Mark some support with ... Tyler Farrar!
Spoiler
Tyler was a top class sprinter. He's hit some hard years recently but still has a good sprint on him. He will be key support for Mark. GERTY Rating:
Round 4:
The final WT only round, but more restricted. So time to pick up a classy youth. We looked for more support for the sprints with... Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg!
Spoiler
Reinardt is one of the best in Africa. He can sprint and climb and tt. He is a great future prospect and will be a great team addition. GERTY Rating:
So what are our plans for the next draft rounds?
From here on in we will look to try and stick to our sponsor regions, and some lesser known youths from across the world.
Not a lot going on at the moment, so a rather pointless update from TLI HQ.
Lets start with Remi Gaillard. Always good to fill some time, and promote Montpelier HSC at the same time:
To be honest thats all we've got at the moment...
But lets try and get some more interaction going with a small competition!
The first person to answer all three questions correctly will receive a signed TLI jersey!
Second place will receive a set of TLI Bidon+Feed Bag
Third place will receive a copy of Mark Cavendish book, Boy Racer.
Questions:
1. What is the 10th largest (in terms of profit) fictional corporation?
2. When was the original Madden game released?
3. Name the cobbled pass in TheManxMissile's Central Europe Grand Tour.
Google... i mean juszta... wins a signed TLI jersey!
With signatures from the World Champion, classics legend amongst others i'm sure Ebay... i mean juszta... will enjoy it greatly!
Runner-Up and Third place are still available, and good prizes.
So draft rounds! Two to update on.
Round 5:
First time with CT teams, so we take 14th pick. A chance to pick up some support for Cav's from a sponsor region... Nacer Bouhanni!
Spoiler
Nacer is top young sprinter. One of the best in France with his best years to come. He will help Cav's and lead some smaller races. A great team member.
GERTY Rating:
Round 6:
15th pick for this round. Time to lock in a GC rider. We decided to go American to keep sponsors happy, plus they were almost untouched. One name instantly came to mind... Levi Leipheimer!
Spoiler
Levi is a quality stage racer. Okay he's a bit older now, but quality comes with age. Clearly a leader for the team and certainly capable of a GT top10. Going to be great working with hm.
GERTY Rating:
I know that it's been a while but anyway.
Hello everyone.
My name is Dag Jensen and I'm so excited to race in the world tour next season and with such a good team. It's really inspiring to be surrounded by stars such as Cavendish, Flecha, Leipheimer you name them.
I've immediately found a good friend in Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg. He's a great guy and he's really supporting me in my training and I try to support him.
My goals for this year is to work as much as i possibly can for Flecha in the Flanders classics.
I hope to maybe get selected for the Tour or any other GT but just as a water kid.
A very big goal for me is to finish Paris-Roubaix and roll onto the velodrome knowing that I made it. De Ronde and Gent-Wevelgem are also races i want to finish or just ride.
I want Flecha to get the best results possible.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward for the season.
Its the Christmas break in the Draft, so its time to update with our latest three riders.
Round 7:
We felt it was time to bring in a national champion if possible. Two names came to mind that were still available. One American, the other British. So we went for ... Dave Zabriskie!
Spoiler
Dave (aka Captain America) is the US ITT champion. He is a strong time trialer, and will be a fantastic domestique on almost all terrain.
GERTY Rating:
Round 8:
We needed another quality helper for Flecha and the cobbles. A few names were thrown round the office, and the list was extensive. Youth we decided with ... Ian Stannard!
Spoiler
Ian is a fantastic up and coming Classics specialist. He can pound the flat for hours at speed. Great help for Flecha and Mark. Plus hes a really nice guy.
GERTY Rating:
Round 9:
Scott Thwaites
Spoiler
Scott has been a promising talent on the UK NE level for a few years. He has a bright future here at TLI with us.
GERTY Rating:
Thats 9 riders, a full GT team. We would be very happy to have this as any GT team. 1 NC and the WC to shout about already. Nice mix of youth and experience. Talent and Veterans. TLI are very happy right now.
