After 4 seasons sponsoring, which included one CT win, one PT win and one 3rd place in the PT, Sony Ericsson has unfortunately pulled the plug following Sony's buy-out of Ericsson from the mobile phone company.
Thankfully a new sponsor was not very hard to find considering the almost 100% guarantee of success and exposure this team brings. Thus, the new sponsor for 2013 is the Swedish hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg!
The riders below have been re-signed, however, only time will tell if they will remain with the team following the transfer season.

Rumors say, that there Oz Cycling Project has an awakening interest in Cameron Meyer. It would be interesting to know, if he's one of the riders, who may be available if the circumstances allow?

Mayer is likely to remain with the Koenigsegg squad due to his immense sprinter capabilities.

New singings
Koenigsegg has kept a low profile in the transfer season, mainly focusing on riders that could strengthen the squad in the mountains and TTs. This has lead to two awesome signings:
Alejandro Valverde
The aging Spaniard still got some skills that most manager should fear. It will be a delicate problem to decide who between Trofimov and Valverde will go to which race.
Jacob Fiedler
Being Germany best pure TT:er on paper, a feat that Sebastian Lang once could boast, Fiedler will bring some real quality in the individual TTs and be a great motor for the team train. Unlike Lang, he can also go over hillls, and will be a key helper in bringing back breaks for the sprinters.

New singings
José Antonio Redondo
At the request of Valverde, a spanish climbing domestique has been added to the roster. Redondo will protect Valverde when the slope steepens.
Bert-Jan Lindeman (Loan)
In a loan swap, Lindeman comes in from Die Berg Komt Er and will be a useful domestique for Ballan on the cobbles.
Stagiares
Harry Kraft
This german will not only excel in the sprints in a couple of years, but also against the clock at short distances.
Nejc Kosic
A Slovenian talent on the cobbles.
At the same time we say goodbye to Bernard Kohl and Sebastian Lang who will join Pendleton's and Metinvest-Emirates respectively. Clement Chevrier will be loaned away to Die Berg Komt Er in the deal with Lindeman.
The team list has been updated in the start of the thread.

Win, win, win!
Fiedler bags Koenigsegg's first win of the seasons by rocketing home the last stage of the Tour of Qatar in a race against the clock. It also meant a 6th place in the GC for Fiedler.

First goal achieved in style
Yuri Trofimov dominated Paris-Nice by winning 4 stages en route to the overall victory and the defending of his crown, thus achieving Koenigsegg 1st goal of the season. The Russian was in great form, keeping his rivals under control in the hills and leaving his sprint ability to do the talking, resulting also in a well earned point jersey. Even the super fast Ben Swift had to concede to Trofimov once, on the tough stage 3.
Meanwhile in Spain, Alejandro Valverde came home in 5th place in the GC of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, a respectable result against the worlds' best climbers. Serge Pauwels aggressive riding lead to him wearing the KoM jersey for 4 stages and in the end sharing the price with Wiggle's Teodoro Costagli.
This, plus a solid, but lucky, 8th place overall for Robin van der Hugenhaben in Tirreno - Adriatico, meant that Koenigsegg rose to the top of the Pro Tour, now leading Vesuvio by more than 200 points.
Next up, Milano - Sanremo.

Here's an update of the last months of racing:
Alessandro Ballan could not defend his Milano - Sanremo crown, despite trying hard to attack away in the closing kilometers, as the sprinter teams was too determined to end the race ended in a bunch sprint. Ballan instead perform admirably consistent in the cobbled semi-classics, never being worse than 7th, but still missing that top result. The luck did not turn in the classics either, where the best result for him was 6th in Gent - Wevelgem and 5th in Ronde van Vlaanderen.
Yuri Trofimov continued his good form in Vuelta al PaÃs Vasco, where he had four stage podiums, but never being able to get the win, ending 2nd in the GC behind Robert Gesink. The win eluded him in Amstel Gold Race as well, where he ended third, but came instead in Liège-Bastogne-Liège after terrific team work. The win was Trofimov first in La Doyenne.
Trofimov winning La Doyenne
In the Tour of Romandie Paride Grillo managed to sprint to a 2nd place on the 2nd stage, but otherwise the good results was sparse, with Alejandro Valverde ending 15th in the GC.
It would go better in the Giro, where Yuri Trofimov was eying the pink jersey, which he consequently grabbed after taking a double win on the hilly stage 4 and 5. However, he lost the jersey two stages later when Taylor Phinney proved too strong against the clock. Trofimov then turned into damage limitation mode for the mountains and defended himself well against better climbers to end 9th in the GC.
Meanwhile in the Tour of California, Robin van der Hugenhaben really was on form, winning the 2nd stage and taking over the leader’s jersey. He could not defend it though and dropped down to 7th by the end of the race, with Raúl Granjel Cabrera taking 3rd on the last stage.
Next up was Vuelta a Espana, where Alejandro Valverde was looking to bounce back from his poor Romandie showing and it was immediately clear that Valverde was determined to do well, working himself up to top 5 in the GC after the first week. On stage 9, Robin van der Hugenhaben was allowed to get away into the early break despite lying 21th in the GC. He then executed a perfectly timed attack to win the stage and bag the team’s second goal of the season. The spirit in the team was therefore on top, however, disaster struck on stage 10 when Valverde fell on the last descent, thus losing almost 6 minutes and dropping all the way from 4th to 21st overall.
The team’s tactic then changed to solely concentrate on going into breaks and winning stages. This almost paid off already on stage 13 when Max Öste-Macdonald managed to get himself into the early break and collect enough mountains points to move him into 2nd in the competition on the same amount of points as the leader Matea Kvasina. He then went on to grab the jersey on stage 18 in a long break, where he also ended 2nd on the stage.
On stage 19, Hugenhaben launched an attack with 80km to go and again outsmarted his breakaway companions to win his 2nd stage of the Vuelta. This also saw him move from 19th to 9th in the GC. Hugenhaben defended his place in the GC on the last two stages and Öste-Macdonald went on to win the mountains competition, helping the team to move back into the lead in the Pro Tour!

And the racing goes on..
After la Vuelta, it was time to start preparing for the Tour, meaning Tour de Suisse and Critérium du Dauphiné was on the menu.
The bulk of the Tour team took part in Tour de Suisse in order to practice the TTT skills and fine tune the support for Walter Pedraza in the mountains. The time trial went fairly decent, with the team ending 4th, helping Pedraze to a solid 7th in the GC. Otherwise the results on the stages were sparse with no podiums.
In the Dauphiné, Alejandro Valverde spearheaded the team and was on his way to 5th place overall when the man with the hammer struck on the very last stage, resulting in Valverde conceding more than 3 minutes to his main rivals and dropping to 9th in the GC. The team's best stage result was Valverde's third place on stage 6.
Yuri Trofimov got back to racing in the Classique du Grand-Duché and did not disappoint with a great 3rd place, finishing 2nd in a group 12 seconds behind Damiano Cunego.
Next up was the Tour de France and considering the great showing last year, the team went in with high spirits. It showed, with the team finishing 3rd in the opening TTT, just a fraction ahead of Heineken. Raúl Granjel Cabrera went on to finish on the podium on the following sprint stage and then racked up three 2nd place finishes, including on Champs Elysees where the on form Óscar Guerao prevented Cabrera to repeat his win from last year, whilst Alexander Wetterhall was a suprise 2nd on stage 15 through a breakaway.
But the team would not come away winless as Jacob Fiedler blitzed home the stage 17 time trial. In the meantime, Walter Pedraza had quietly kept himself out of too much trouble and managed, albeit with some luck, to end up 10th overall, doing what Trofimov could not do last year.
Jacob Fiedler on his way to glory in the Tour
After the Tour, the results have not been anything to write home about with the team being very low key in both the Tour of Norway and the Great Ocean Road Classic. This have resulted in Wikipedia moving ahead and opening up a 300 point gap in the Team Standings.
Next race is the Vuelta a Colombia, where Walter Pedraza will be back to hopefully score another top 10 in the GC. Fingers crossed.

The end is here
Coming third was not enough for Koenigsegg and the Swedish hyper car manufacturer immediately pulled the sponsorship after just one season, leaving the team without funding and forcing it to disband.
An abrupt end to a team that started of as Designa Køkken in 2008, went on to promote to the Pro Tour and subsequently secured Sony Ericsson as title sponsor for the 2009 season. The team fell straight back to the CT, but managed to jump up again after securing the CT title in 2010. With more financial muscles on board, Sony Ericsson signed the upcoming talent Yuri Trofimov who proved to be the team's golden card, helping Sony Ericsson to a surprise Pro Tour crown in 2011 and making sure the team would be a top team for the coming seasons.
On thing for sure, the disbanding on the team makes an spicy addition to the upcoming transfer season!
Cheers lads for the last years, been a blast. Now time to hand over to a new, eager member. All the best!
Don't go too mad on Trofimov will ya?
