Sprinters in big tours - Career

Hi everybody!
Do you guys usually DNF your sprinters after some stage wins if you do not aim for the green jersey, or do you make them climb the walls until the end?

I'm asking this because i usually finish every race with my sprinters, but now i was thinking, while using Lachi's SP, about using a more realistic approach. I mean, if you put Cav in every race he participated this year, he would end up with 70+ days of race, wich is very bad for a season in PCM. So i thought why not putting him in races wich would sum up to 75 days of racing, but to DNF the guy in the middle of Giro, for example, or before the harder days in Paris Nice or Dauphiné...

By doing this, i manage to save some race days, and bring those wins at the same time, wich is basically, what teams do, right?!

Does anyone usually do this? Does it work on PCM? To DNF a rider, do you put the "dot" option to zero during the stage you want him to quit?

Yes to all questions basically.

It makes the planning of the season a bit diffrent obviously, but it's worth a lot if you want to have as many wins as possible with your sprinters especially.

However 70 days for Cav isn't that bad. He'll form at the end will be bit lower, but not that bad. E.g. leaders usually have around 66 - 76 race days. At the end of the season you don't need very high fitness really.

Wow. I cant believe i'd never thought of that. When the insurance pay out for a new laptop, I'll have to try that!
