It was a misty morning on the 31th of December. Three men in italian suits and a non-descript cycling team manager was walking in a park in downtown San Marino.
Simone Biasci: Say chaps, how about we get some more funding?
Sponsor Representive 1: No
Simone Biasci: Why not?
Sponsor Representive 2: That would require sucess, Signore Biasci
Simone Biasci: Riiiiiiiiight.
Sponsor Representive 1: It is clubbering time.
Sponsor Representive 2: It is, indeed ,clubbering time.
Simone Biasci: Come again?
*Sponsor Representive 3 breaks forth a crowbar and smacks Simone Biasci in his head*
Sponsor Representive 1 & 2 in unison: Jenkins you bloddy imbercile! Thats a crowbar! Not a club!
Sponsor Representive 3: Sowwy
Sponsor Representive 1: Anyhoo, bring out the pet robot slave team manager
Sponsor Representive 2: Aye aye cap'n
Sponsor Representive 1: Jenkins, would you mind?
*Sponsor Representive 3 hits Sponsor Representive 2 in his head with a crowbar*
From San Marino to San Marino... And back again!
Author: Waghlon
Team: Cinelli – Endeka – OPD
Database: PCM Pack Spain DB v1.1
Difficulty: Normal
Modifications: Roadie's new kit for the team. Other than that, nothing.
Houserules:
1)When it comes to signing people, stick to southern europe. For flavor: Add Pliuschin and maybe a north African.
2)Trainings camps are forbidden due to the annoying moral police who will then refuse to read my story. Dots are still cool though.
3)Must crack jokes when possible.
4)Should hopefully aim for a top 15 in the continental tour in 2008. Well, if we count out the non-european teams.
5)Probably just one scout. I cant see it giving any benefits for me.
6)Should i go in debt (and i might), im allowed to edit the save game and give myself some money as a loan. Mind you, that said money would have a pretty heavy interest.
7)Whenever we are in the same race as Southaustralia.com, we must ridicule them (im looking at you stuartmcstuart)
8)Allan Smile and Mark Cleversly got nothing on us. NOTHING!
9)Ive always wondered: Just how long can i make this intro?
10)Mushroom Kingdom is still just Life, Universe and Everything (if you get that one, congratulations!)
11)Last one, i swear!
That said, team presentation coming up! (read: tommorow)

All right then. The spiritual sequel to the spiderfrench is here. Sorta. Due to the fact i wont be here from monday to friday afternoon next week, there will most likely only be a small update besides the team presentation.
But im delighted to announce that ive come up with a plan that should make this story different enough and easier to make for me. I intend to record the races on video and upload them to Dailymotion for extra crispyness! Videoing is first of all a thing i havent seen any other stories do. Besides, it allows me to say some "funnies" whilst intentionally mispronounce ukranian names. And IMO a video would say a lot more than a collection of pictures and words.

Well, its going to be some spectaculary bad videos I might have been a bit fast out by stating that i was going to video the races. But still, despite my inexperience, horrible software, combined with a commentator which considers his own voice girly, i think its the best option for me.
Actually, i havent even made a proper test yet. I intend to record a small video of my first stage which is a 3KM ITT later tonight. I hope it works.

Just goes to prove that only Crommy reads my story - my last race included video highlights.
Good luck anyway.

Diary of a yet unknown man - 1st of January
Damn that was a great new years eve party. Just a shame i couldnt remember anything after someone in a suit stabbed me with a funny looking needle and started to chant "Bettini, Di Luca, Rebellin, Cunego, Petacchi, Bettini, Di Luca, Rebellin, Cunego, Petacchi, Bettini, Di Luca, Rebellin, Cunego, Petacchi, Bettini, Di Luca, Rebellin, Cunego, Petacchi,.............. Emphasis added. Freaky man in a suit continued to chant for 2 hours straight according to eyewitnesses.
Well, i woke up sometime this afternoon. And i had a sudden urge to go to work. Which is odd because i dont have one!
So rather instinctively, i jumped on my bike (i cant remember owning one though). It looked rather nice, i think it was a Cervelo with low profile Campagnolo tires and trimmed brake blocks. Seriously, how am i supposed to remember that?
Either way, as i was riding down a road which felt familiar, i was stopped by two gentlemen in a Fiat Estate wagon. They introduced themselves and number 1 and number 2. Im not sure why, but i accepted their invitation to follow them.
They took me to a bus and in that bus they introduced me for something really interesting. A computer.
The two men put me in front of it and told me that i knew what to do.
"Good luck... Manager..." Said Number 1
"Comrade manager" Said someone that had just entered the room
"Shut up Jenkins!" Said both 1 and 2 in unison.
And so began my first day at this strange yet intriguing job.
Team presentation
Jesus Perez
This guy here is pretty much our main sprinting talent. We have some others with low 70's ACC and SP. But once he get another level in experience, he will be our main sprinter.
Vladimir Smirnov
He's our main sprinter. Im gonna rush him to level 3 and hope for a nice skill boost. With two more points in SP and ACC, he will be gold for us.
Yauhen Sobal
In PPDB07 for PCM06, he is much more important. But he is still a nice asset if we want a win by breakaway.
Alexei Shchebelin (lets just call him S'belin)
S'belin here is also a useful man. But he is 25 and still only at level 1. So his scope of progress is rather small.
So there you have it. The riders we start with that i think is good for something. There are others that might match, but yeah, i dont have enough time to mention all that could win a stage.
So then i signed some back up for us...
Aleksandr Pliuschin
You should know him. He is a really nice prospect from Moldovia. And even better, he doesnt fall out of our buying policy, because i say so!
Ruggero Marzoli
Marzoli brings in some important hill and mountain capabilities. And he will undoubtly be useful for our sponsors goals (Jenkins, put that crowbar away -ed).
Luca Zanasca
I have a theory that his stats will be a lot better in 2008. Until then he will make a fine helper.
Tomislav Danculovic
He's all right really. Im not expecting great things from him, but he is quality for us.
Dean Podgornik
He is a lovely versatile rider, and the best Time Triallist in our team. Just dont count him to help when it gets hilly.
Hassen Ben Nasser
When you consider he's only 20, a flat rating of 69 and a hill rating of 67, can make him an invaluable helper for a CT team. Maybe if were a lucky, he's a future puncheur of excellence.
Well, youve seen the new signings, and some of our old riders. So before i end this presentation. Let me gift you with a picture of the full roster:
Im optimistic about the team right now
Sponsor Representive 1 He's doing all right.
Sponsor Representive 2 Yeah, i was afraid project "Brain transplant from Belgian" wouldnt work.
Sponsor Representive 1 Dont push it. He havent actually raced yet.
Sponsor Representive 2 Well his brain has...
Sponsor Representive 1 Spare me the technicalities and make Jenkins ready for the trip to Argentina

Right, im read to do a proper test recording of Stage 1 in the first race. Basically i need to know if i should bother do voice commentating for it or not. If i do a voice recording, the actual voice recording wont happen until tommorow because i properly wont have a quiet moment today. On other hand, if i stick with just text commentating for now, i will properly be able to do two stages.
So, voice or text-only for now?

News since last update:
Boogerd and Van Petegem announce they'll retire.
Cadel Evans win the australian ITT championship. Allan Davis takes the road race.
We get 30,000ish euros amount from our secondary sponsors
David Blanco from Caisse d'Epargne has been banned from cycling until 2008 due to something blood transfusion related.
Tour de San Luis – Stage 1
Pliuschin was an outsider today, whilst David Millar was here too as a favorite.
Note: The video is entirely mute

I've decided to lure myself away from pretending this didnt exist. Basically i want to continue the story actually, i got more time now, but ive decided against the videoing it since it was a waste of time for such poor quality.
I got a long weekend anyway so i might just make an update sometime.

No no, please overstate it. In the same way im overstating that the team is from San Marino when it really is Italian. (On a side note: FFS Dankan, where are the San Marinoan riders?)

Shame you couldnt win the prologue, although its good that Millar won. If youd have used all your energy bar, Pliuschin mightve won.

Stage 2 and 3 of Tour of/de/la San Luis – In text that is
Stage 2
I got a call last night from Number 1 and 2. They were overjoyed to see my first stage go like that. Yeah whatever. It was only 3kms afterall and we'll be doing thousands of kilometers before 2007 ends.
Either way, im sitting on the passenger seat of a rusty old estate with Jenkins driving. He's a bit lethal, trying to do powerslides in every roundabout we see. Ive talked to Pliuschin, and we've agreed that when that mountainous ITT pops round on Stage 4, he'll go for it.
Today stages is a flat one, two sprints and small hill in the beginning. Ive ordered Sobal to attack and get tons of bonus seconds. And because he's no idiot, he got 5 seconds. Thus meaning he is only 3 seconds behind first now. I told him to kick back and let the break get caught. With no sprinters to boot, we decided to call it a day.
*At this point, i exported and didnt take screenies. Export never really works for me soo... Either way, C. Torrent won the stage as expected and Sobal barely made it home with the pack*
Stage 3
“Same plan as yesterday?” asked Jenkins. “Same plan as always” i replied back. Sobal only needed to get 3 seconds. As Sobal attacked and Jenkins speeded up, i decided to take a kip
*The stage was practically pancake with the last 67kms holding both of today's point sprints.
Five riders got away including Sobal, at their max they had 9 minutes but was ultimately never a threat*
I woke up when Jenkins poked me and informed Sobal just had won todays only hill sprint and that he was leading said competition. I, never fond of being poked into awakeness told him that unless it was the GC, i didnt care. So i fell asleep again.
Sobal got 5 seconds today, but he then fell flat on his face and dropped away from the pack thus negating our great day. He is still leading the KoM though.
Tommorow i attempt to bother the decisive ITT and the final two stages, then finish up January and try to copy everyone elses way of making stories.
