And after all, why not an Aussie for Oz? Sulzberger's listed..
On today's presentation of Oz Cycling Project's new shirt (more news on that later), manager TS Moha answered to rumours, which link transfer-listed-to-be Wes Sulzberger to Oz Cycling: "Well, of course, this is interesting news to me, yes.. Wes is currently staying in Australia and had a chat with William Ford. I can't say more yet, but I CAN say, that he's on our list for next season."

As former Rapha team, now Jaguar-Eritel team manager already knows, Team Metinvest-Emirates is interested in their rider Abdallah, however this decision will be maybe revised before the actual transfer season.
On the other hand Metinvest-Emirates are being reported thrilled about the potential availability of some other african rider of team Jaguar, that was recently listed as open for negotiations. The name catching the eye is Zakayo Ndbri, the man that looks like extremly useful climber from Kenya. Metinvest finds him as one of their potential biggest targets of the upcoming transfer season and will contact Jaguar about him for sure.

Evian - MIAT have declared an interest in at least three of the riders on the way out of Jaguar - Eritel. Kenyan climber Zakayo Ndbri, Gabonese cobbler Amadou Bakari and Egyptian sprinter Cherif Abdallah are believed to be the riders of interest. Jonathan Bellis, Adam Blythe and Peter Kennaugh are also linked with the team, as Dyson wish for some British presence. |

With Blythe on his way out of Rapha, rumours have been sparked about a move to British ProTour outfit Pendleton's and a chance to race as a leader in the top cobbled classics. Pendleton's' manager said: "Adam is of course a talented rider and we do need a cobbles leader for next year, so he is definitely in the frame. He may have had a dissapointing season but, to be honest, I'd love it to happen." He gave no indication of what a transfer might entail.
Will the Jaguar manager comment on this story? And what kind of deal would be necessary to prise Blythe away? |

When asked recently about memories of the most recent season, Simply Red Bull manager had much to say about his rivalry with Jaguar - Eritel's former incarnation Rapha Condor-Qhubeka. Interesting snippets included:
Towards the end of the year I was resigned to finishing below Team Bianchi, but losing the runner-up spot to Rapha stung a bit. We had both been ding dong in the standings all season and you build up this competative edge. We lost that towards the end of the season and you know what, Rapha really got it on. Some of their riders certainly impressed.
It must hurt some of their riders, to be stuck in a team that can only ride a few Protour races a year. However as we saw with Ben Swift and Geriant Thomas last year amongst others the team have a fantastic attitude about letting some of their better riders move on. As it appears to be this year, it the nice thing about this squad really especially for those vulture like managers looking to raid talents. Having got to the promised land of the Protour, we'd happy to help the development of young climbers such as Rob Partridge or Erick Rowsell
Adam Blythe - I'll be honest I've been calling for this rider to move to a protour squad for some time. The guy has such potential to be amongst the very best classic riders in the world. I'd question the choice of moving to another British outfit though, my opinion he needs to move out of his comfort zone. Of course we at Simply Red Bull would be very happy to pay a very hefty transfer fee for Blythe. Likewise for young sprinter Peter Kennaugh

Believe me Smowz, there's no comfort zone at Pendleton's. Our team bus is nothing like Sky's. |

On Wes Sulzberger: We expected some interest for Oz! He is a very useful domestique so will be a shame to see him leave - but Oz would clearly provide a good home!
On the Africans: Its great to see more teams taking an interest in African riders - we will have to have talks with both Metinvest and Evian about them - plus any other interested teams.
On Partridge and Rowsell: It would be great to see them earning ProTour experience in Simply Red Bull Colours.
On Blythe: Clearly it is time for him to ride in the ProTour. The driving factor will surely be money, as Jaguar-Eritel are largely content with the leaders that will be remaining with the squad. Blythe is thoroughlly bored of his so-called comfort zone - but who is this Sky that you speak of?
On Kennaugh: You never know, next season could be the best time in a while to have a sprinter. Cross-division interest suits Kennaugh, as he should be a contender in various races for whichever team gets him!
On Bellis: Money calls for Bellis aswell. We would expect a strong fee for him considering how much is to be gained by having him - particularly for any PCT squad interested in him.

One on Loan, Two for the Classics
Heineken has expressed an interest in a season long loan involving the Namibian classics protege Ermin Van Wyk. Ideally, such a move would involve Van Wyk's current teammate Adam Blythe. These two would do a world of good for the team's classics department.

A Blythe deal involving Van Wyk would certainly appeal.
National Championship success
Our team dealt with the opposition and then took on each other in the British championships. Alex Dowsett, who remains in the teams, was able to hold off the outgoing Jonathan Bellis in the best result of his career to date.
Ian Stannard retained his time trial title - holding off Ian Bibby who has now included his year on loan at Wiggle. The highlight being a Tour de France stage win.
Also returning from loan to become our lead sprinter next season, Sam Bennett, was the surprise victor in the Irish championships. There is more to come from him in future, but next season the Irish colours will be onboard with us.
There was lots of success in Africa aswell! Taking road race titles and definately riding in Jaguar colours next season were Anguilet and Belmokhtar, while Teklit, Grmay and Van Wyk will hope success helps them to ride on loan in ProTour. The departing Abdallah also won.
Anguilet, Belmokhtar, Van Wyk, Grmay and Abdallah won their time trials aswell. Victory also came in Kenya for Hussein.
Jiriakov ended his time on our team by winning the Liechtenstein TT title, while Wes Sulzberger came so close in the Australian road race, taking 2nd.

Some of the team's African contingent borrowed some kit recently and went off to test out the route for the Tour of Eritrea - a newly announced C1 race.
As an Eritrean registered team, it is no secret that the Tour of Eritrea will be an important race for us - although whether it is to try to win, or just give Eritrean riders an opportunity to ride their home tour, is yet to be decided!

The team's continuing goal will be development of African cycling, with an obvious focus on Eritrea, but these can not be reflected in our official goals as they demand results. This is where the British strand of the team will need to deliver, specifically Chris Froome and British champion Alex Dowsett.
And to truly develop African cyclists, we need to take them out of their comfort zones. Thus, we will not be racing in every single African race but taking a global calendar - therefore our standings goal must be an overall target, rather than an aim to defend our African Tour title.
| Win, Nelspruit Classic | | Top 5, Tour of Britain | | Top 5, Tropicale Amissa Bongo | | Top 10, Manx International | | Top 15, Team Standings |
The absence of the Tour of Eritrea is because this is not a race we expect to win - this year at least. Our squad there will consist entirely of Eritrean riders. Rumours suggest Eritrean champion Tesfar Teklit may be able to remain on the team and continue his development, while we make no secret of the fact that Daniel Teklehaimanot is a definate target for us.

ANC-Halfords are reportedly very interested in several of the british names on the "to go list" at Jaguar-Eritel, would Jaguar be open to a potential large-scale move including several of these names?

The available Brits will go to whoever makes the best / most interesting offer. Ill have no preference of buyers going into the transfers, Im ready to see which offers emerge.
Although it is likely that Last, Swift-Metcalfe and Lloyd will not have their contracts renewed, thus becoming free agents.

Jaguar rider Richard Cleaver has today turned the tables on his employers by taking charge of renewals for the squad. Rumours are that his own new contract was offered to him under gunpoint!
A number of riders have been notified that they need to look for a new team in the free agency:
| Amadou | Bakari | | Abdelkader | Belmokhtar | | Dimitri | Jiriakov | | Tom | Last | | Daniel | Lloyd | | Zakayo | Ndbri | | Joseph | Perrett | | Tomas | Swift-Metcalfe | | Ermin | Van Wyk |
