Just read about Leipheimer sacking by Pharma Quickstep.Ever since I have a thought repeatedly popping up.Is this what u get to support so called justice(I still believe in Lance). What sort of example are these guys setting. Are they trying to say that coming forward and helping out in the so called doping case investigation was a mistake or crime?
OK May be he had been part of the doping scandal and been sacked for that be more logical but one can question they timing of the decision and the motive behind it.Just thinking from the rider point of view.Did he get they hard part of the bargain?May be if he had just kept quiet he still might had continue a couple of years with the team.
What Message are they trying to send out here???

They probably did it to free up money for Cavendish. This was just a convenient excuse to give him the chop.

1st thing I have to ask is, what do you mean by 'I still believe in Lance'? Not trying to start a argument I am just curious as to what you mean. As for Levi I think that this is Quickstep using it as a means of freeing cash up for Cavendish and also Levi has not been performing, if they dropped him for the sole reason that he was involved in the USADA case then they are perfectly in there right to do so. Levi did the right thing by coming forward and by doing that he got a reduced penalty, he will ride on next season as far I know and maybe head back to the states and ride on one there Conti teams.

It is fair. When he signed the contract he would have promised he never doped like they all do now.

Its a good thing. Sure, it seems harsh, but its now a clear case of a rider telling the truth and losing something. Blows the 'haters with nothing to lose' argument out the water.

Definitely the majority of the reason.

Oh yeah, thats alot to do with it too. Still doesnt make it unfair imo. They had perfectly legit reason to boot him. Plus it makkes finiacial and competative sense. Its a win/win/win for OQS.

Not so much for levi, but its probablyy time he retired now anyway.

I don't see wht the riders get out of this. Don't beleave they just need cash for Cavendish.

The riders lose their achievments, gets fired, and gets half a year of suspension. And a pissed of Lance on their ass.

I don't see the win-win situation here. Only win-lose. Sure they only get 6 months instead of 2 years, but we aren't even sure USADA wil win the case yet! I would never do it, rather get the to years suspension, and stop my career.

Ii was saying it was win win for the team, not the rider.

As for what the rider gets, they get a clear consience. They get to not live a lie anymore. They get to know that ultimateely, eventually they have done the right thing.

Well said!!!
I know that if I had done what Levi has done I would feel better to know that I owned up to what I have done and be able to move on with my life not having it hanging over me. His palmares are gone, has been banned and lost his team but at least he can look at himself in the mirror and know he has done the right thing. Armstrong wont be able to do that, mind you Armstrong most likely thinks what he has done isn't cheating.

You have never done the right thing, if you used drugs.

Heh, I used winn/win is prevvious post so figured you'd picked up on that.

And taking ped's is wrong, but it doesnt make the confession not right. Atttempting to put right your sins to the betterment of the next generation is the right think to do, regardless.

It's wrong to dope, but the least you can do afterwards is to come clean and tell about what happened, so we can get more knowledge about who's involved and how it's organized and ultimately become better at stopping it.

That's what Levi Leipheimer et al has done, bringing down a widespread doping network that was still in the game to this day.

It may cost them a 6 month ban, but hopefully they feel it's worth it. I certainly do.
