Team Rumours
Rumours continue to link Vesuvio-Accumalux to the possible signing of Andy Schleck - a natural choice given that the team leader remains brother Frank Schleck. But the question is, what would happen to Rigoberto Uran or Benat Intxausti if that were the case?
Ben Swift has also hinted that he would like to see the team strengthen their sprinting support, and a strong leadout rider or two is therefore an obvious target - either being bought, or part of a trade. Vesuvio has yet to comment on any particular name that they are interested in.
Kazakh star Maxim Iglinski may have the team's blessing to search for team leadership, perhaps in the ProContinental division. And with a Baltic presence now found in the ProContinental division, and potentially the Continental division as well, the team is ready to pave the way for Drasutis Stundzia to leave after 5 seasons on the team. João Cabreira will also leave if the right offer is made. Other riders, such as our Time Triallists could be available if the offer is interesting enough.
And as always, if any PCT team is looking to give one of their riders ProTour experience to aid their development, who better than the current champions? We have a strong history of loaning in rider and developing them well.

Oz Cycling's manager responds to new rumours
"We're still searching the whole market and it's too early to know, which possible transfer will be achievable for Oz in 2013, but if there will be a chance to land Michael Ford for next year, then.. yes, he's on our list", said Oz's manager in a short media conference in Sydney today. "We've heard some news from Vesuvio, that he may be available and even though we won't go any risk to overrun our transfer-budget just for Michael, we will consider this opportunity. Providing that Michael is willed to ride in PCT!"

Michael Ford interested in Oz, if allowed
Michael Ford is currently locked in a multi-year deal with Vesuvio-Accumalux, and thus, his renewal to the team is effectively guaranteed. It is true however that he has spoken of his desire to joining the Oz Cycling Project and link up with his brother William - and Vesuvio certainly the recognise the merit in having brothers riding together.
However, Vesuvio are not quite willing to let Ford immediately leave, just because he wants to. If it is deemed that maintaining a strong TTT squad is important for Grand Tour efforts in 2013, then Ford may not be allowed to depart.

Cabreira returning home?
The portuguese rider has been seen riding with some colleagues from Prio - Porto in a training ride, which has given voice to the rumors of his possible departure from the all-mighty Vesuvio-Accumalux. When asked about these rumors, Cabreira promptly replied: "If I can't have my space in the ProTour, I might as well sign for a CT team and prove myself as the potential GT winner I know I am. Franky and SN will miss my white bald ass I tell ya".
Care to reply?

VolksWagen-manager talk about Vesuvio rumours
After the rumours started flying that Vesuvio was interested in loaning Zabel for a year VolksWagen manger Heine decided to send out a press statement: "Vesuvio is one of the teams we plan to make contact with during the transfer season. We know they plan to sign in Andy Schleck and thus need to open up cap space. To do this we would be willing to help by making a deal that includes Uran or Intxausti going to us. We know that to make this deal we would have to pay, and letting Zabel join Vesuvio on a loan might be a part of the deal. Other parts might include Lucas Schädlich as we know Vesuvio are intersted in having a strong TTT squad, and with the best TTT squad seemingly disbanding Lucas could be the piece that makes Vesuvio the new one.

João Cabreira; VolksWagen
João Cabreira has proved a useful asset to us in the Mountains over the past few years, but it unfortunately seems that being part of the winning ProTour team this year has gone to his ego. His Top 30 performances in the Tour of California and Vuelta a Colombia were useful, but certainly not Grand Tour winning standard. There was no space for him on a Grand Tour team in 2012, and there is unlikely to be space for him on any team in 2013. Talks with Prio-Porto are all but certain to take place.
Regarding our interest in Zabel, we would firstly say that Schadlich is not of particular interest to Vesuvio. Our period of TTT-dominance has been gone for 3-4 seasons now and there is no current interest to pursue a return to that stage, we only require adequate talents to minimise losses in any GT TTTs - and current riders Ford and Kittel provide a cheap option to do that, which will be hard to beat. Should Uran or Intxausti make way for a certain rider then talks are sure to take place with many teams - and if something is to be offered in return then that may make negotiations more successful. If Uran or Intxausti do leave because of a new signing however, we have no interest in selling them to any team who competed with us in the bidding for that new signing!

Team Festina opens for talking to Pro Tour leaders concerning several riders.
Colombian climber Rigoberto Úran, and spanish ditto Beñat Intxausti has been seen talking to Festina manager Andreas Jøhnke, who decided to comment on the fact.
"True, I have spoken to both, and I respect them very much as riders. Beñat has been in competition with Alberto for a couple of seasons, and it's great fun to chat with him. We would love to make him part of the team for sure. Who wouldn't? Rigoberto is a coming star, eventhough he already produces top results. He is very much so, a rider we have been looking at for. We believe he would fit the team very well, and got everything we look for."
In other news the german TT'ist Marcel Kittel should be interesting to the team.
"True. Marcel is one of the focal points this season. He is obviously interesting in terms of a strong TTT lineup, which we have always put an honor in pursuing. We don't have a lot of wage room for riders with such a specific quality, but if we can make a deal worthwile for both setups he would be very very welcome at Festina. We have a strong lineup of nearly baked timetriallists, whom could all benefit from his experience. Rumours has it that Vesuvio could be interested in loan deals concerning greek sprinter Georgos Tzortzakis to strenghten their sprint setup, while strong finisher Michael Matthews could be in line for a more permanent trade. Also two spanish leadoutmen, Vicente Reynes and Rafael Rodriguez Segarra have been seen talking to a spokesman of Vesuvio.

After mentioning it a few days ago, I'd like to confirm that Cisco are very interested in classy Kazakh rider Maxim Iglinski. After spending a couple of seasons as luxury domestique at Vesuvio, we believe that he's looking for a last chance to lead a team at the twilight of his top career. We're ready to pay serious money for him, if Vesuvio allows him to leave.
Comments from the Vesuvio management?

Festina; Iglinski
In regards to the interest from Festina, we are sure they are not the only team who might be interested in such great riders given their potential availability. Knowing Benat Intxausti though, he loves to build his season around the Vuelta a Espana - and would likely be wary of joining a team which already has a Spanish leader, at risk of not getting the opportunity to lead a team in his home race.
Marcel Kittel has no interest in leaving Vesuvio, however, while Vesuvio also dont see the point of loaning a rider from a fellow ProTour squad! Michael Matthews could be of interest, however the witness to the meeting of Vicente Reynes and Rafael Rodriguez Segarra and our representative probably got the wrong impression - they were merely asking him for directions to the nearest bus stop. They are undoubtedly useful domestiques, but age is not on their side, and any potential offers we could consider making for them are unlikely to meet Festina's expectations.
Meanwhile, Cisco are undoubtedly one of the obvious teams to make a home for Maxim Iglinski if he does depart this summer. We cannot rule out the possibility that he will stay, but we will certainly have our ears wide open for any offers that come his way - he certainly deserves a chance to lead a team before his career passes its peak.

Alex Kirsch might be off to the PCT to gain experience
The new PCT Team UPC is rumored to be willing to have Kirsch for a stay in the PCT. What this deal would look like no one commented on, but there seems to be an interest in developing regional talents.

Loaning
While we appreciate the interest, chances are that Alex Kirsch will ride for us this season as he will gain experience more easily in the ProTour now that he is level 3. However, it may still be possible for Kirsch to gain to level 4 in the Continental division, and if so, a loan deal may be a possibility depending on how the rest of the transfers develop for us.
But if Team UPC are interested in developing regional talents, then perhaps they may have a space for Gilles Heymes - although of course, we realise why Kirsch would be more appealing!

Of Brews and Berries
Uran is rumored to desire a move to a team in which he will be the head honcho. Vesuvio is rumored to want cash. Newly promoted Heineken is rumored to have both the leadership role, paired with a strong cast of supporters, and the cash necessary to make such a deal occur.
Heineken is even willing to be blackmailed into not bidding for Brother Andy

Lately, there have been circulating rumors that Bacardi is very interested in signing Benat Intxausti. It's a well known fact that Bacardi has already made inquiries the past 2 years about the availability of the Spaniard. Vesuvio wasn't planning on letting him go though, as he was an essential part of their GC tandem.
When asked about this rumor, Bacardi had the following to say: "It's true that we find Intxausti a very interesting rider, however, the transfers haven't even started and Vesuvio hasn't even made a definite statement about the status of Intxausti, so it's to early to make big statements. Our main sponsor, Bacardi, is interested in a Vuelta succes though, after the Giro win last year, and has giving us a good amount of resources to accomplish this. That's all i have to say for now".
