PFG - Armavia
The big bank Parsian Financial Group has joined the old Team Armavia and will therefore be called PFG - Armavia from now on, and will have its hub in Teheran. The cycle team will have two focuses. Both to continue working with the great riders from the regions of our interests, together with encouraging new youngsters from the middle east to start or continue cycling. As we have a strong regional focus on middle eastern riders, we need to continue developing riders. We will bring in a whole bunch of fresh blood in what we think will be talented riders from the middle east, northern africa and central asia, and try to learn as much as possible from them. This season will be a real fight and a battle to the end where we hopefully get to avoid relegation from the Pro Continental Division.

It's a bold and brave statement made by the PFG - Armavia management. I am imagining a very colourful team in the pack.
We note that Maxim Burlutskiy after a simply fantastic year in division 2 has the ability to ride at the very top level next year. Simply Red Bull would be prepared to offer their team as part of a loan deal for one of Israels top sportsman to help him realise his full potential.

Some of PFG - Armavias names on their recently made shortlist have been revealed to the Iranian press. Unfortunately, the newspaper who revealed it did not manage to get the biggest names on the list.
Kind of interresting is that among the 3 who was found, all of them are young talents from the middle east. Here they are:
Amir Kohladouz
Ido Zilberstein
Ben Einhoren

It's funny how, this season, the obscure riders are gonna be such a fight to get. Georgians and Kazakhs would never have been fought over last season

2013 - PFG - Armavia Team Goals:
Win Taldykorgan GP
A kazakh classic which we will try to get riders in a breakaway at
Top 10 Kenya Mountain Classic
Same as the above, allthough much more demanding.
Top 10 Azerbaijan Tour
The big big goal this season, the race of our homeland. Unfortunately the stage race might be too tough for our riders, so we don't think we will manage to win the race.
Top 10 Tour of Eritrea
Interresting new stage race with one really challenging mountain finish.
Top 5 Asia tour team standings
Our main objectives will be asian races this season, and therefore we would like to focus on the asian tour team standing.

Good luck mate, let's make D2 proud. With one or two signings outside your transfer policy, you could get 5/5. |

The calendar planning in Teheran has been the first priority the last weeks, and finally it seems like PFG - Armavia have found their races of interests.
It consists of different african and asian races, and it seems like these two continents will be the main focus for Armavia the forthcoming season.
Important races
Azerbaijan Tour
Tour of Qatar
Tour of the Middle East
Tandykorgan GP
GP Tunis
Tour d' Algerie
Kenya Mountain Classic
Tour of Eritrea
Manager Bjartne had this to say to the media:
We suspect a strong starting field in Kenya Mountain Cassic, but we want to show off our colours in east africa this season, which is why we also would like to focus on Tour of Eritrea. The new C2-race Tour of the Middle East is a very very interesting project and we hope to field a squad at the line up there. There is no doubt, however, that the highest priority this season goes to Azerbaijan Tour where we will get the opportunity to ride at home. We think it will be a great succes both for the team, the sponsors and of course the spectators. We will do our best to get som results there
We noticed you also listed a ProTour-race here, Tour of Qatar, do you really think you will be able to get a wildcard to this popular season opening race?
Tour of Qatar is important for us solely because it's located in the Middle East. We know it will be hard to gain a wild card to this race, but this is the only PT-race we are considering to apply for, and therefore we have the necessary cash for it if we should get the chance.

Press release:
There have been a fierce battle over the last weeks in Teheran, with manager Bjartne wanting to keep the entire Armavia-team from 2012, whilst the Parsian Financial Group have fighted to release everyone, and thereby get the chance to have fresh riders coming in for the new season.
After intense negotiation, they have both come to an agreement where the best core of the team from the 2012-season will continue ride in orange, whilst the remaining rosters will not get renewed their contract and save the team from a lot of wages.
We will continue working with the great 4 riders we have left, together with encouraging new youngsters from the middle east to start or continue cycling.
We will also bring in a whole bunch of fresh blood in what we think will be talented riders from the middle east, northern africa and central asia, and try to learn as much as possible from them. This season will be a real fight and a battle to the end where we hopefully get to avoid relegation from the Pro Continental Division.
The following four have got their contract renewed:
Sergey Sarkisov
Mahdi Sohrabi
Hossaini Reza
Maxim Burlutsky
