Fabian Cancellara is one of Switzerlands most recognizable personalities but his problem here is that he is alone against asolid all round squad from UBS, as well as a full complement from enthusiastic CDiv2 team Adecco.

The gap to the break is 8 minutes with 45km to go, frustrated Cancellara attacks.
A fairly determined effort by him (and chased by UBS) can only get the gap down to six minutes with 30km left. UBS reel Cancellara in and keep the pace high in the chase.
However going through with 2 laps to go and 18km left the gap is still 4 minutes meaning the race really is over for those left behind.

No dice as Schwab and Rast pull these two back in, this move does however drop young Dillier who perhaps could be a Swiss rider for the future.
One lap to go and you sense the excitement build for these five riders, what a coup it is for Adecco to have two men here. Kohler has got a really keen kick, that said these constant hills may have worn him down.
Santamorita senses he will not win a sprint and see's no option but to attack on a rise again.
This time Rast pulls him back with Schwab now playing the tactical game. Zampieri gets tailed off early, domestique duty done for the day. His teammate Kohler sits on Schwabs wheel.
