Many Internal sources in Liquigas-Cannondale's system belive that Ivan Basso, One of the best climbers around will not be on the team at the start of the season. Liquigas has been offered up to 110k for Basso acording to our sources. The team alreaady has young Vincenzo Nibali so this could become a huge movefor their team.
Ivan Basso and Valerio Agnoli have been sold by Liquigas-Cannondale. Valerio Agnoli was traded for 5.5k in a no one cares deal. However Basso was dealed for 82.5k to Leopard-trek. Basso is now part of a super team at Leopard-Trek. Mean while Liquigas has given Nibali the absolute leader role.Edited by maxime86 on 16-10-2012 02:27
Acording to sourses, Liquigas is look to sign a good Climber or a good Cobblestone rider before the transfer window closes today. They are stocked with young talent but they want good veteran.Edited by maxime86 on 18-10-2012 00:39
Early this morning maxime86 manager of liquigas Cannondale announced the team's roster for the Giro and la vuelta
Maxime86:
"Hello and welcome to our official press conference to confirm riders for the Giro d'Italia and La Vuelta Espana. I hope you will agree with decisions taken by this organization and I for these riders, so here we go!,
we will start with the Giro,
Our first rider is......
Jacopo Guarnieri!!!!!"
Reporter:
"Why did you decide to select Guarnieri for this squad as he hasn't preformed up to par this year"
Maxime86:
"He is a good sprinter with a lot of talent and lets be honest here, no one is ridering as I expected them to this year. Also, the Giro was high on his personal list this year. However, he will be riding for our sprinter here.
...
"Now our second rider is....
Paolo Longo Borghini!!!"
Reporter:
" PLB as most people call him is a good helper but doesn't do much else, why him?
Maxime86:
"Woah, wait up, PLB is one of the most underated helpers in the hills and on the flat, he will be a great addition for our squad.
...
Now our third and fourth riders,
Tiziano Dall'Antonia and Dominik Nerz!!!!!"
Reporter:
"I understand the call for Tiziano but it seems like you have sent Nerz to more than his fair share of races"
Maxime86
"Nerz has surprised me with his work ethic and other things this season, I expect him to develop well this year while racing well
...
now our sixth rider: Cristiano Salerno!!!!!"
Reporter:
"please refer to Nerz question"
Maxime86:
"Please refer to Nerz answer
...
Now our free ekement/team-mate: Kristjan Koren
now if there is no question our last team-mate is Diego Ulissi!"
Reporter:
"Ulissi seems like he will become a great rider in the future, where do you see him in 3 years"
Maxime86:
"I see him with a top 5 in the Giro at least and hopefully on our team still
.....
Now our team's sprinter: Danilo Hondo
and team leader: Vincenzo Nibali
Reporter:
"Good luck in the Giro"
Maxime86:
Spoiler
thinks* go jump off a cliff*
"thank you"
Vuelta Updates will continue through the day

"Hi I am a DS on team Liquigas, my name is Joe Belton and will present our Vuelta squad without any comments until the end,
so our team-mates are:
Mauro Da Dalto Damiano Caruso Jacopo Guarnieri Maciej Bodnar David Loosli Juraj Sagan Mauro Finetto
and our sprinter:
Fabio Sabatini
and our leader
Simon Spilak
now any questions?"
Reporter:
"You seem to have gone with a very light squad for the Vuelta this year, any particular reason?"
Joe Belton
"We don't have any riders really targeting the Vuelta this year, also we don't have any Spanish riders on the roster so everyone wanted tour or Giro and even some other races, but when push came to shpve this is the only squad we could really come up with"
Reporter:
"Simon Spilak is a good young rider however, he doesn't seem ready for a leader's role in a GC do you think that this will be a good experience for him?'
Maxime86
"'I think he will blossom as a rider when people are working for hime, I don't think a top 15 is reason able for him but a stage him + a top 30 should b obtainable, and hopefully he will blossom in this tour, now if there aren't anymore questions thankyou for coming and our TDF line up will be announced soon"
