With 5068 points and a winning margin of 238, Team Bianchi have followed in the footsteps of Wikipedia, Team B&O, Sony Ericsson and IKEA-Bianchi to take the Continental title. Dmitry Claeys was their topscorer while David de la Fuente won the Tour of Japan and Giro del Capo, Manuel Lloret won Vuelta a Burgos, Juan Jose Cobo won in Philadelphia, Frantisek Rabon scored well and Gerald Ciolek even won some sprints.
2nd place goes to Rapha Condor Qhubeka. Jonathan Bellis won 3 stage races and a classic, while Chris Froome won 2 stage races. Bellis' Tour of Britain win proving the highlight, alongside his South African domination. Adam Blythe chipped in when he could be bothered, and Alex Dowsett scored well also.
Its 3rd for Jayco - Red Bull. Daryl Impey was their best ranked rider, but there was points scoring across the team. Dani Moreno, Manuele Mori, Simon Gerrans, Kim Kirchen, Gustavo Veloso, John Gadret, Amael Moinard etc etc Incredibly they only won 1 race outright though - and that rider has not been mentioned yet. Jerome Giaux at GP Herning. They are our 2nd promoting team.
Pokerstars are 4th. Jose Rujano was outclassed by another Venezuelan, but at least managed to win Vuelta Castilla y Leon. Erik Mohs, Kevin van Impe and Frederik Nolf also played important roles.
Theyve been in the Continental division every single season - and theyve moved on a lot from an opening season where wins were almost nonexistant. But finally, California Giant have promoted! Stage race wins for Kristjan Koren, Samuel Sanchez and Tom Zirbel, alongside consistent scoring by Peter Stetina and Ryan Eastman.
Now onto that other Venezuelana. 4 stage races and 2 classics for Jose Alarcon have fired Aker Solutions into the ProTour. He scored 1000 poitns more than the next best Aker rider Gustav Larsson.
With help from Franco Pellizotti and Fabio Duarte, Cesare di Maggio was the key man as Venchi Procycling win promotion in their first season.
Venchi beat UniCredit by 2 points. Could have been very interesting if UniCredit had an active manager. But they dont, so go Venchi!
And finally, Cafe de Colombia's voluntary disbandment means 7 teams promote. So on the up are Team Bennati - Puma-Sap.
Ill add more detail at some point in the future.

Well done to Team Bianchi - they were a cut above.
Also to Rapha and Red Bull who always seemed there or thereabouts in just about every race they were in.
Congrats to all the other teams who have gained promotion too. Well done. |

Congrats to Bianchi. Together with Rapha and Jayco clearly one of the three dominant teams.
From my perspective, not a great season. Obviously not bad to be 21st in the first season, but I wish I would've been smarter than I was when building the squad. I've said it many times, but still: So excited for 2013!

Missed out on promotion by 1 place
Not that I would have deserved it, so congratulations to everyone who did get promoted, some really good performances all year by those teams. |

I remind that I could have promoted last season as Domina Vacanze was inactive and was about to be disbanded but with some magic, they took part at the transfer season and afterwards nothing so they didn't race at all.
If they would have been also inactive there 2012 my team would have been already at the ProTour 2012. As Domina was active there I had to take part at the CT as the 1st one of the "not-promoting teams".
Build a solid strong base with multiple riders that can score a lot of points (at the CT) rather taking part in the weird "Getting a rider from the Free Agents at a too high wage". It could be good to secure them for the season afterwards (so you can reduce very likely the high free agent wage) but I would look out for underrated riders. Also ask around the managers if you could make a deal as these riders are normally cheaper then every Free Agent rider.

I think this is the time to finally confess.
Yes, thanks to the Reporters forum, I was well aware that not Venchi, but Hollister were the ones to beat, and therefore I was pretty sure we promoted after Faso.
So a big, honest sorry to all the guys I did not tell the truth to in the discussion threads. And an equally big sorry to ltt who misses out on promotion by such a slim margin despite having such a good position, you really would have deserved it.
So on to the good news, holy sh*t, we promoted!
This late surge thanks to Bennati and Croket was as unexpected as it could be.
I have to thank all the guys who voted me into this game.
It was the pinnacle of joy to join after many years as a spectator, and now, being in the first division at least 2 seasons earlier than I ever hoped to is certainly making me the most happy man one could be only because of an internet community game
So, Pro Tour will be a challenge. I fear transfer season could very well end horrible for us, as we lack everything besides a sprinter + train.
It'll be a difficult task to create a balanced team competitive in every terrain.
Most probably, my plan of grabbing some of the heavy talented stage racers added to the DB has to be abandoned for a rather conservative approach, but at least, all the thoughts I already made about loaning out my 3.xx guys like Kelderman is redundant now

Well, he hasn't written anything yet......
Congratulations to Team Bianchi and Rin. They were really the strongest team with great depth in their squad.
It will also be interesting to participate in the PT, I suspect my team will go straight down to CT again, but we'll definitely do our best |

Congrats to all the promoters and Rin in particular.
17th is a good result but watching my tumble since the cobbled season has been excruciating.

Big congrats to Bianchi, they were fantastic all-around team and are deserved winners of the division. Congrats also to the rest of the promoters to the PT, big league is waiting for you.
And those who did not promote, dont worry, you will be far from the bottom places next year, when some of our shite Div2 teams will take the free places in CT.
And big thanks to all reportes and others involved, as i enjoyed reading the CT reports as much as our own division.

Congrats to the promoted teams, and thanks to all the reporters. Tinkoff were my real surprise package, in a bad way while the three new teams were pleasant surprises and it'll be interesting to see Alarcon, Bennati and Di Maggio in the Pro Tour. |
