Sprinting
Daffers
I play a custom team with 10% money, so i don't have really good riders.
though some of my sprinters are 75/74.. after trainingscamp 78 now and 77.
I only do continental races, in mountain and hilly stages i have great results.
(i play on normal, want to change to hard for mountain and hills).
But i cannot seem to win a sprint (normal).
i was in a breakaway with my sprinter (77) and got beaten in the sprint by to 62 sprinters while i had full energy, they just sprinted 2,5k from the finish.
other sprints i can also not win, tried lead outs to no effect.
is it possible to win with just positioning your sprinter without a train ??
and when is the best time to start sprinting ?? I start at 1,0 k to go.

tnx for any advice !

i do not have such problems on normal...
ik can outsprint boasson hagen with a sprinter of 74..
normaly i use a leadout train or set my sprinter in the wheel of a stronger sprinter (like with EBH)

Whenever i try to follow a rider, my sprinter just leaves a gap, he won't stay in the wheel, with decent flat skills and energy.. how do you set your sprinter to be aggresive can't seem to find this in 2012.

I don't think there is an aggressive option in 2012. I usually start my lead out around 2.5-3km and with my sprinter around 1.5km.

I was able to win sprints pretty consistently on normal using a lead out train but having more trouble on hard. I'm thinking it's because my lead out men aren't good enough to keep up when other teams start their sprint.

Does anyone have strategies for winning sprints without a train or is it just a matter of getting on one of the favorites wheel and hoping for the best?

Go to tips and Tricks - you will find lots of information on sprinting and sprint trains.

I play on hard. And it's possible to win stages with sprinters - (75) trainingscamp (78) - in GT's like Giro and Vuelta (maybe even tour never tried that out)
You will need luck.
You will need good "form of day" like +1 or best offcourse +5
You need one helper to help your lead sprinter to last 11.9 km before finnish.
When you are infront of the (opponent) sprinter that you think will win this stage > in that case get your guy next to him or behind him.
Follow your opponent, when other riders challenge your riders spot, just tick "follow" again. Keep reminding your rider you want him in that wheel.
(not sure if this last sentence actually works... but i think i saw it in one of the pcm tips and tricks in 3d loading screen)
Was does happen is that your rider can lose the wheel, so in that case you do need to re-tick "follow" again.

Try to experiment in a single stage race , and repeat your tactic. Lots of variations can change the situation in the race.
