Tour de l'Avenir 2012 - Stage 7
SportingNonsense
Stage 7. It's flat. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wiggle.png Luke Rowe goes for number 4.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-1_zpscef7c53b.jpg

And 11 men make it into the breakaway. Insausti 'winning' the only sprint of the day.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/hollister.png Schwarmes
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/ferrari.png Fonzi
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/GB.png Perrett
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Rothaus.png Turek
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/BPost.png Polanc
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/focus.png Thill
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Meiji.png Fukata
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/GER.png Predatsch
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Cerne.png Insausti
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/saab.png Nehoray
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/eb.png Krneta

Fast forward to 50km to go and they lead by 4 minutes. Milka and Rapha are chasing. They still have hope of beating Rowe! And the break are doomed.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-3_zps0f789b89.jpg

The last of the breakaway to keep fighting is Perrett. He gets company from a later attacker in i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/saab.png Sorensen.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-4_zps30e2b9fc.jpg

And with 9km to go its all over - Milka sealing the deal. Then unusually, its Wiggle who hit the front. Although Rowe remains further back.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-5_zps0d9d15eb.jpg

Milka regain control and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/milka.png Reinhardt leads with 3km to go

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-6_zps3fbad458.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/milka.png Howard, i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/rapha.png Blythe, i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Bennett and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Meiji.png Yamamoto follow, but Rowe doesnt! He is getting his own leadout today - because it all went so badly when he didnt have a leadout for the first 3 stages...

He follows i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wiggle.png Moser i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Cerne.png Coutinho, i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/GER.png Zabel, i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Rothaus.png Schoch, i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/ferrari.png Sagan and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/festina.png Matthews also in that train.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-7_zps2d17a0d2.jpg

Milka have dominated the leadouts in the past .. but not today. Maybe theres method in the madness for Wiggle as Moser is clearly outsprinting Reinhardt!

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-8_zps0c9b29e3.jpg

Spotting this, Howard launches with 1.2km to go.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-9_zpsc8eaa7ee.jpg

Rowe is swamped, and sticking to Moser for too long. But Howard has gone too early again anyway, here goes Blythe!

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-10_zps3c5dcdb1.jpg

Rowe awakens from his slumber and starts to charge, but theres a lot of work to do, and not much time

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-11_zps0b4cfe2d.jpg

Surely this can't be happening. Rowe being beaten in an Avenir sprint, and Adam Blythe actually winning a ManGame race??

But it is, and it has happened! Blythe wins!

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/avenir7-12_zpsc3c71dec.jpg

Fast finish for Rowe but only 4th. 3 sprint wins, and then beaten by 3 riders on the 4th attempt. Its an impressive 2nd for Irishman Sam Bennet instead, with Howard holding on for consecutive 3rd place finishes.

5th for Zabel, ahead of Sagan, Matthews, Coutinho, Yamamoto and Betancourt
