The subject tells it all, I wonder how you ask the rider(s) in a breakaway to take leads, or is it impossible. Because computer ask me.

It`s impossible.
You can just try to lower your own percentage, so that he takes the lead.
During the stage sometimes 50-55% are enough. If you go higher, the others won`t help you often. |

Of course you can ask them: Just shout at them. If they hear you, they might reconsider taking the lead. |

I'm my latest stage -a mountain stage- i was in a breakaway group with a Colombian rider who was much better in climbing then the rest of the group. In a valley (50km before the next mountain) the other breakaway riders refused to take the lead. Probably thinking "not gonna ride for that guy so he will win". This went on and on, the peleton gaining minutes.
I decided to attack, i was caught couple of km's later (yes suddenly they wanted to ride, but offcourse only when i'm attacking) chaos started, one attack after another...so many attacks that after a while my Colombian rider was totally out of gas....of the breakawaygroup he was the last one to arrive at the top of the mountainclimb

I find that the breakaway riders will usually work if it is logical for them to do so. If they aren't working with you you have to ask - is my rider much better than them or do they have one of the favourites for the stage?

But it is still very annoying that AI riders do not lead a single second but as soon as your rider attacks and rides away, they will close the gap very easily. But when an AI rider attacks, they will not close the gap in 99% of all cases.
In my eyes this is very poorly programmed it is more like player VS computer.
The only thing you can do in such cases is to pull them up the climbs (which does not harm your rider if he is stronger) and then make him sit back when it is going down. But it is never wise to attack before the last climb as the description of KayZeroX shows. The AI riders can somehow attack differently then the own riders, I guess the AI cheats when it comes to attacks.

kqyt,
Firstly, if your in a break, take your rider off of "Relay". Then right click the mouse over the rider you want to sit behind. Some red icons will appear. By clicking the furthest right icon (white circle) which is essentially maintain position, your rider should move to the wheel of that rider and stay there if his effort is high enough. Bear in mind there's no way to get the other rider to take up the relay, so if it's a breakaway of only two riders, there's an increased likelihood of you being pulled back in by the peleton. If the effort isn't high enough to sit behind a rider, the effort stat will flash red, so you need to increase it.
If it's within 15km of the finish on a flat stage, you can use the "follow" option to sit behind another rider, but again there's no way to ensure the AI will ride to maintain the breakaway.
Kay Zero,
Use the "dot" Effort to attack on climbs. If your rider is a significantly better climber than the others in the breakaway, an effort of 70-75 should be enough to help your rider ride off the front. The AI isn't intelligent enough to reply with an 'attack'. |
