Hi everybody! It's me, Rui Costa, from Movistar Team! After getting some good results in 2011 my team promoted me as one of the team leaders for 2012!
This is great news! They told me to keep training hard and to be prepared to lead the team in Giro d'Italia and to help Alejandro Valverde to win La Vuelta.
So, I sitted down with the team staff and we've decided to race only in Giro del Trentino before Giro d'Italia. Do you think I should participate in more races before Giro? They said to me that is extremely important to get a top-5 and a stage win at Giro and that is necessary to be at top condicion there.
After Giro, I will try to get a decent result at Dauphine Libere and then I'll rest and plan the rest of the season in order to be fit at Vuelta. But I also want to make sure I have some strenght left to represent Portugal the best as I can in the World Championships.
Is that for now, I'll keep you all updated! Thank you,
Rui Costa

First of all, good luck with this story
I would also ride the tour de romandie before the Giro, but that's just my opinion

Hi! I think you definitely should do the April Classics (AGR, FW and LBL). After all, we know for a fact you can get a top 20 result and perhaps even help Alejandro |

By the way Good Luck with your story |

January:
Nothing much to do this month. After the Christmas and New Year celebrations, I needed to lose some weight, so my season begun in mental and feeding terms. After spending those holly times with my family and friends I've become focused 100% in the 2012 cycling season. Re-started going to the gym, sometimes rode my bike, but nothing to hard, waiting for the next few months where I'll need to practice hard, now it's just soft and easy. I've also talked to the staff and it's confirmed that I will also ride in Tour of Romandie. But don't expect me to have a good result there, a top-20 would be good.
In the end of the month I've watched on TV my mates who rode in Tour Down Under and had great results! Good work and congratulations! Unlucky we didn't get 1st place! Here are the final results of the 1st World Tour race of the year:
Next month the work will be harder. Till then, have a good time! Thank you for following me,
Rui Costa

February:
This gotta be the worst month of the year! My legs hurted so bad in the first days of real training! My coach really steped up this year with the trainings. But you gotta do what you gotta and this is the life that I've chosen and the life that I love. It's really hard in the first days of practices but it gets better and now I'm felling good and happy. Next month will not be easy as I'll continue the hard work to be at 100% at Giro.
I'll keep you updated!

March:
This month I've went to Italy where I've recognized some of the stages I'll race in Giro and also went to Ajaccio, France, where I've climbed some hard mountains.
Giro is 1 month and some days away from now and I'm becoming to feel a little anxious. But I guess it's normal. I'm felling good and excited since April is the month I'll start racing.
My legs are working good and I really have great expectacions from me. Hope I don't disappoint myself and the people who follow me!
Almost forgot to mention Kyrienka, who finished 7th in Paris-Nice, which was won by Voeckler, and to Karpets who finished 6th in Tirreno, where Luis Leon Sanchez got the 1st place.
I'll keep training hard and improving my mountain habilities. I will also report Giro del Trentino here so keep in touch!
To all of you, thanks for following me,
Rui Costa

Giro del Trentino:
Here it is! My first race of the year! Felling excited but at the same time a little nervous, because I don't know how my legs will be. Don't expect me to have a good result here, I'm just here to prepare Giro d'Italia.
Team told us that Karpets is felling good and that he can get a top-3 here. If he correspond to the expectations I'll try to help him, if not, I'll just try to finish as high placed as I can.

The organization tried to conviced me to go there! I've went there one stage, but not raced, only gave some authografs to my fans around there, had a really nice time!

Stage 1:
A short team time trial were we have condicions to win it.
We were the last team to go to the road, so we had time to see the other teams. We know that Scarponi is the biggest thread for de GC, and we were happy to see that Lampre has done an horrible time.
And then our time has come! We were the last but lots of teams were racing at the same time that we did. Here's a picture of me leading my teamates!
We've done a good time, but not enough to be the fastest! BMC were, and Pinotti will be the leader tomorrow. Nothing to worry too much.
My legs worked fine but I'm a little tired. Now I have to rest since tomorrow it will be a hard day!
