Starting with a Custom Team

I'm new to the PCM Series and enjoying my first effort at a career, but reading some of the other threads i think i've made the game a lot easier by starting as a custom team?

I choose the "free riders" but i had a huge budget which let me get the likes of Froome, Kittel and a few others. Is that normal for a Custom team or can you restirct the budget given to a new team?

I'd also assume that the likes Froome would be unavailable as already with another team?

When starting a career with a custom team you can choose any rider you want, even if they are in another team. How "realistic" you want it to be is all up to you.

As for the budget, in PCM11 you could choose between the number of scouting reports and the size of your budget. The higher the budget, the less available reports and vica versa. I haven't played PCM12, but I think it's the same there.

It is the same in principle but even if you choose 100% youth you still have a very large budget big enough to build a very good team.

Just set your own budget and dont spend the rest

Not knowing much about the finance of Cycling, what would be an acceptable starting budget?

Well knowing about cycling and knowing about PXCM are two entirely different things Smile

Have a look at the strating budgets of the other teams and that should give you a rough idea.

Cycling is odd in that a new team can suddenly appear with the biggest budget

It does not matter, neither does the game work like that nor can the management part be compared to real life cycling.
BTW: If you want realism, then download a good DB and don't play with a custom team.
