Proximus are holding the gap just under 2'00", but aren't making much progress with 46.5km and 4 laps to go.
The breakaway crest the climb with 34km to go. They will climb the hill 2 more times before descending to the finish for the final time. They have pulled the gap up to 2'20", while Keukeleire and Berhane have been dropped.
From the peloton, there is an attack by Mori, Claeys, and Jiriakov.
La Lavandier and Quintana are dropped before the penultimate climb.
Claeys, Mori and Jiriakov have all been brought back to the peloton now.
Back at the breakaway, Proni is now on the front dropping the hammer. He has caused a split, and the riders being on the good side of it include Dowsett, Sørensen, Hesjedal, Passalacqua, and Veikkanen. It looks like Gil has surprisingly missed it!
But Gil realizes his mistake and pulls himself back up, passing Passalacqua and Veikkanen, who aren't looking very good.
Back at the peloton, there is now an attack from Johan Vansummeren.
Johan Vansummeren is pulled back from an attack by Weening, Mori, Claeys, Jiriakov, and Ben Nasser.
Back at the front, Proni has launched his move, followed closely by Hesjedal.
Now Valverde has joined the late attackers, who have managed to reach some of the weaker remnants of the breakaway.
Proni and Hesjedal have 45" on the Gil group behind them.
The favorites that attacked have been caught, and now Claeys launches another attack. He has a 1'30" gap to close down before he reaches the Gil group, and time is running out.
Dowsett now attempts to leave Gil and Sørensen to join the two leaders.
There is now a move coming from Bpost. Vanendert seems to be launching Vansummeren, with Di Maggio in the mix.
They catch Claeys, but Jayco - Red Bull lead the peloton in hot pursuit.
Gil and Sørensen catch a slowing Dowsett, and they are now only 35" behind Hesjedal and Proni, with 13.5km remaining.
All the favorites are back in the peloton now as the recent move has been shut down by Ben Nasser.
As the peloton reaches the final climb, Ben Nasser now attacks. The reaction comes from Kirchen, Claeys, and Wyss.
Di Maggio, Valverde, and Vansummeren accelerate now.
Veikkanen and Passalacqua are now passed by this latest move, but the Gil group is still 1'10" ahead.
The Gil group now crests the climb for the last time, with the two leaders only 25" ahead!
The favorites that recently attacked are now all back in the peloton as they go over the top of the hill. The gap is down to 48" to Gil/Dowsett/Sørensen, who are only 20" behind Hesjedal and Proni now. 9.5km remain, with no more climbs to shake things up. This is going to be very close and very unpredictable.
Aleksandar Flügel stretchs the group on the descent, with Valverde, Claeys, Salerno, and Vanendert following.
Hesjedal and Proni are now only just ahead of their previous companions, as the gap reads 16".
And everyone is caught on the descent! Hesjedal's chances of pulling off the double just dropped significantly, but there is still a chance with 5 kilometers to go.
With 3km to go, Grau, Weening, Vanendert, and Salerno are on the front, with Hesjedal, Proni, Ben Nasser, and Claeys lined up behind them.
The sprint starts in this select group of 23 of the best riders.
Weening gets a clear advantage early, can he hold it until the end? Its a significant gap, but he has a long way to go...
And it looks like the sprint is very muddled, with many riders boxed in. This will work to Weening's advantage.
But now Ben Nasser, Valverde, Flügel, and Di Maggio have broken through the mess and are coming very fast.
Weening is passed, as Ben Nasser leads in the final meters of the race. Flügel is in a strong 2nd, while Valverde looks to make it 1 -2 for Proxims - Trek.
Aleksandar Flügel just holds on for 2nd ahead of Alejandro Valverde, who is followed by Kirchen in 4th with a very fast finish, Di Maggio in 5th, Rui Costa in 6th, and Manuele Mori taking 7th.
Dimitri Claeys can only manage 8th, despite being one of the protagonists of the race, while Weening drops all the way to 9th, and Alex Dowsett finishes best of the breakaway in 10th.
Ryder Hesjedal can only manage 23rd, which must be disappointing today as at one point he could probably have tasted the win.
