"I love him, I think he's great. He's transformed the sport in so many ways. Every person in cycling has benefitted from Lance Armstrong, perhaps not financially but in some sense" - Bradley Wiggins on Lance Armstrong

"The day of the protest at the start in Orthez - Wednesday, the day Cristian Moreni was revealed to be positive - I decided not to wait on the line because I don't want to be dictated to." Wiggins recalled in his Guardian column.

"I went through the start line with the peloton and when I caught up, everyone was laughing, patting me on the back and saying well done for coming with us. I heard some awful things at that point, which made me very depressed - the worst was one rider who joked that he didn't understand the French, that if they took drugs they would go faster and why didn't they try it."

"except last year when Phonak and another team that's still around made a point of chasing our riders down every time they tried to get into a break, just because, apparently, we talked too much about doping."

Which team is the second one ?

What Wiggins relates is quite depressing, it shows you how much remains to be done before things and habits change, for every one.

I've been wondering that. if I feel like it, I might be going through cyclingnews' live reports to check

I'd say it's either the American one, either a Spanish one, unless it would be Quick Step, but that'd be a bit more surprising then.

It's one of the most interesting articles I have read in a long time.

I've been going through the live reports at cyclingnews.com and I find no evidence of anyone other than Phonak riding in pursuit consistently except when someone extremely dangerous was in the break (the yellow jersey actually, a few of the times).

Just to show how inconclusive it was, the team who chased FDJ the most were Bouyges Frown

based on those live reports, if I had to guess, I'd say Da Cruz is probably referring to T-Mobile or Lampre.

Isn't Da Cruz the idiot who didn't start the Giro because he broke his toe at the Team presentation? My best friend broke his toe playing foorball(American) and he played on not letting it stop him.Pfft

That's one of the best cycling-related pictures I've ever seen.
It just sums up everything that needs to be said about cycling these days.

Does anyone remember the guys in the back...Lance, Jan, Heras, Vino, Hamilton. The creme de la creme of doping all lined up - priceless.

I tend to believe what he said about French cyclists not being doped - their "inferiority" to everyone else is just way too obvious.

Yeah, their best rider at the worlds was Fedrigo...being 30th

But at the espoirs however they allways have a few world class riders.

Normally, your max VO2 (more or less your max power) does not variate much between the juniors, the espoirs and the pros. What changes is the ability to maintain it on the long term (mountain after mountain, day/stage after day/stage).
If we've our normal share of good juniors and espoirs, it means our lack of talent at the pros is not genetics-related. Pfft

the genetic argument that some people use is quite simply extremely stupid, regardless of who they're talking about.
