Hi!
I'm using PCMdailyExpPackV2.1-2010Champions DB and are playing the first year as a custom created team. Everything's been working fine until the 3rd stage of Tour de France. It makes the game hang everytime within the last 5K (not exactly at the same point). I've tried it on both laptop and a high-end PC and I had almost every graphics option on 0 or off but it still happened.
After simulating the stage I got the same error on the cobble-stage but not on the three sprint-stages that followed. Than it happened again on the mountainstages. So it seems to have something to do with how many groups the peleton is divided into. I even tried to close the Interface window showing the time difference between groups but it didn't help. Has anybody else been experiencing this?
Is there anything else I can do to prevent crashes? If this is a RAM-issue (I doubt it), which equipment uses least RAM? |

I think you are searching the problem in the wrong place. What do you understand with "makes the game hang". Does it crash, meaning is there an error message? Or does it freeze, meaning that you see the street and the riders but you could wait forever and it does not move?
Did you check this thread already? https://pcmdaily.c...d_id=13092

Thanks for the response!
The game freezes, the CPU usage goes down and nothing else happens. I have to close it from task manager. The event log says "Application Hang" Event-ID: 1002.
I've read the FAQ (that's why I started to lower the graphics options) but not the entire thread. Perhaps I missed something?! I've searched the forums and found a thread about similar issue but the only hint I got was the games RAM-limit.
I play on win7 (tried both 32 and 64) |

If it freezes, you should be able to see the RAM usage in the task manager. On the second tab, look for PCM.exe if it is about 1'800'000 then your computer reached the RAM limit.
BTW: I asked about crash or freeze because normally the game crashes at that point.
Did you check if the problem happens in career only or also when you play in single stage mode?
You could also try to run the stage in x8 speed. If the problem still occurs at the same place. |

When lowering the settings, did you check Force graphic options? And uncheck stuff like replays, one texture per rider etc.? |

Yes, the settings are as far as I can see, as low as they can get. Check the attached image. Also when I monitor RAM usage it goes from 750MB at the start of the stage to around 780MB at the end when it stops.
It only happens in Career mode. Single stage work fine. I also noticed that I have 10 riders in my team, but I can't control the 10th guy. This guy was preselected but I decided to replace him with another before the whole Tour but now it seems that both are in the race. Could this cause the crash? Why not on all the stages?

No, one texture per rider uses much RAM.
As it says, one texture per rider is used instead of on texture per team.
10 riders per team. This must be a problem.
How did you do this? Did you edit your save? Did you use my planner?

Mystery solved. It wasn't the RAM-issue, but a DB issue.
I don't really know what happened. Luckily I keep my backup-saves so I was able to go back to right before the Tour and do it all over again. I unchecked all riders and selected those 9 I wanted for the race. On the pre-race screen all names were correct but as soon as the prologue started one of the guys was replaced with one of my other guys in the control panels to the left. But both were in the race.
So I did it once more but selected the rider that apparantly was destined to be in the race and now I only had 9 riders and was able to play all stages so far (even the 3rd and 4th, which crashed the game before).
I didn't use your great season-planner on this play-through and I didn't changed anything manually in the DB regarding the race inscriptions. The rider was Allan Davies and the Tour wasn't even one of his three favourite races so I can't see why he wanted this so badly all of a sudden. He's not in good shape either so it's going to be painful three weeks for him.
Thanks for taking time helping me. |
