Tour Rest Day
Alakagom
Well, I think many will need a rest after today especially Pfft

You can discuss the past week and the one coming.

No doping talk will be tolerated ( it has it's own thread now Pfft ).

Is Wiggins beatable ? Will someone ally to defeat Sky ? Will Froome make podium ? Is Evans strong enough to challenge Wiggins ?

I want to see a Le Mond-Hinault style battle, but with two riders who are nowhere near as talented. Pfft

Nibali will strike back.

Well a lot of people are complaining that 'the Tour is already over', but I think after today and with another TT later in the race that the closest rider to Wiggins being almost 2 minutes behind will make the next week exciting, as anyone aspiring to win etc. Will have to stick it for Sky and try something, even Evans.

Nibali and Evans had better work on their descending. They'll need to throw themselves down the mountains to get themselves back in touch with Wiggins.

Wiggins and Froome will make it a 1-2 in Paris in the final time trial. Evans can't match them there, as we saw today. He'll be third. That's what I think.

What I hope is that all of those three collapses and falls out of the podium. Cheering for Nibali, Menchov, Zubeldia, Monfort and Van den Broeck.

Let's not kid ourselves, they can't gain that much time in the descents. If they want to gain serious time back on Wiggins it'll have to be uphill.

I don't think Wiggo/Froome can follow if Evans pulls out the efoort he did last year while chasign Schleck up the Galibier

edit: unfortunately, stage 11 is the only one remotely like that
though 17 can throw a surprise if Evans&Nibali work together to launch down the mountain

If they want to gain time back they need to do it before the last kilometre of a stage Wink

If nothing else, I hope at least that Froome will be allowed/will fight against Wiggins. This would make this Tour a little bit more interesting..

The only thing that'd make this interesting is if Froome betrays Wiggins and goes for his own chances. He has a real chance of winning the Tour, so why not? Wink

Edit: Zabel'd.

Wow 3 stage wins from Great Britain this year and only 1 of them from Cav!Shock The only way Evans can win the tour is if he has at least 2m on Wiggins going into the final TT, which i am 99.9999% sure he can't do unless Wiggins just absolutely fails in the mountains.
Final Podiumm
1. Wiggins
2. Evans
3. Froome
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.

I hope he does too. Wiggins just doesn't look like he's at a healthy body weight.

True, but the way the route is designed doesn't help a huge amount there. Wednesday's stage is an example of that.

Who can make it Sagan difficult for the green jersey?

I'm hoping that we see some serious attempts to attack Sky over the next week. Stage 8 showed any team can become vulnerable if they have to consistently work hard through a stage. Hopefully the reaction will be what the hell rather than lets conserve what little we have.

Wednesday is a great stage to crack them uphill and use the descents to increase the gap. That's how it works, they won't won more than a handful seconds (if any) if they attack going downhill, differences are made uphill.

Misfortune is about it. If he keeps getting top 5's on the flat and getting loads of extra opportunies elsewhere I can't see anyone getting near to him.

Don't think anyone can this year, he is just too good Wink
