According to the manual, it's possible to react to things during a detailed sim, and order riders to do stuff. But having bought the game today, and run the first ~8 races of a career, I'm unable to see any way this can be done. Only speed up/slow down time, and toggle between the event log & start list, but nothing else. Am I missing something really obvious, or is the manual wrong?
Also, the rider list during a detailed sim has white text on a near white background, making it impossible to read. Any way to change that?
Page on manual please.
Thinking about it, I guess you read the part about the 3D race. In this case, select to play the race instead of simulating it.

In the english manual available on the official site, it is page 37, and says
Detailed simulation: By pressing on the «Detailed simulation» button, the game will run
the race for you. You can watch the race progression and get details about all events of the
race in real time. As during a 3D race, you can accelerate the time from x2 to x8.
Detailed simulation allows you to set fi ne-tuned strategies and tactics depending on the
type of race:
...
In this mode you can also interact with your riders by changing your tactics in real time in
order to react to the race.
I see it now. This paragraph is only in the English version, so it must be an error from the translator.
That said, the manual is really shit in all languages I can read.
(Although it is way better than last year where they forgot to update the document at all.)

Yeah, manual is less than informative. Simulation in general seems pretty crap. I've got a custom team, 75% Australian. So first ever race was the aussie championships. Had 7 riders all helping Matt Goss for the sprint finish. The 7 helpers finished 3rd-9th, with Goss in 15th.
Guess tomorrow I'll be looking at the 3D races, and mostly sticking to those.

Indeed, strange things happen in simulations. It's always best to stick to 3D races.
