I thought it would be fun to create a thread for the Tirreno-Adriatico. It's one of the first WT races of the PM-G season.

What are your startlists? How will the race unfold? Who do you think will win?

I'll kick off with a little preview for my continental team Lavazza:

March will be a landmark month for Lavazza, with the team competing in its first World Tour race, the Tirreno-Adriatico. The sponsors are looking for a top 10 overall and a stage win. Chris Anker Sorenson will be our GC man, and after showing some solid form in Sardegna last month he must stand a good chance of meeting the sponsor's objectives. The team will also have high hopes on the flat stages, with Ferrari, Rasmussen, Gavazzi, Manan and Merlo forming our sprint train.

Startlist: F.Aru, M.Bodnar, R.Ferrari, F.Gavazzi, A.Manan, M.Merlo, A.Rasmussen, C.A.Sorenson

Good idea Smile Perhaps Kentaurus should send you the startlists so you can make a preview?

Happy if he is able to send them. But it's more work for him. Besides, it would also be fun if the managers could post up their teams and their hopes for the race.

Who is riding on your team for example? Sagan? What are you looking to achieve? An overall win? Stage victories?

Tirreno Adriatico
Bozic Borut
Bennati Daniele
Keirsbluck Guillaume
Kiserlovski Robert
Hayakawa Tomohiro

Team CSC is looking for a strong performance in the mass sprints. Benatti and Bozic should be on fire in Italy!

Oh dear, what are Bozic and Bennati's sprint/acceleration stats? There goes my hopes for Roberto Ferrari!

@jaxika Thanks! Boonen will be another one to watch in the sprints. Damn it, my hopes of sprint victories are fading fast!

Does anyone know the stage/route profiles for this race? Am I right in thinking it will start with a TTT stage?

Yes, starts with a 16km TTT, then some sprint stages, then hilly/mountain stages and finnally a 9km ITT.

lennybernstein
OK, thanks jaxika.

The TTT will be interesting. None of the teams posted so far look to have many TT specialists.

Looks like Kittel vs Boonen vs Bozic/Bennati vs Ferrari for the sprints so far. Should be tasty.

The main GC contenders? Cunego looks the best rider so far. Sorenson might stand half a chance too.

jaxika
I hope Voeckler can do a top10 with his fairly equal mo/hi stats and the great fighting spirit.

lennybernstein
I was wondering about Voeckler. He's been quiet so far this season? Is this his first race?

No, he already been in Tour de Haut VAr (2nd place in stage 2) and before the Tirreno he ride in Murcia to gain some form.

fernando97
I don't really care for the Tirreno as in the P-N our squad will be much more better. Andy, EBH, Navarro that's pure quality. Grin

You're bringing sprinters though (Guarnieri and Degonkolb). There's going to be a whole lot of competition in the two flat stages!
