Fosters Cycling Team (Pseudo Man Game)
Geezar10
Introduction

i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd475/davidworthington27/Fosters.jpg

Welcome to Foster's Cycling Team, the Aussie sponsors have decided it is time to sponsor a sport team and they thought there was no better way than to create a cycling team. This was as a result of cycling becoming ever more popular with Australians because of Cadel Evans winning the most prestigious cycling race in the world. Foster's were originally believed to have made a deal with Holden to be a Pro Tour Team. They however signed with Westpac leaving Foster's to create a team on their own in the Continental Tour.

Foster's have created a team made up of 62.5% Australian rides. The team has been built around the two sprinters: Mark Renshaw and Robbie McEwen. The team will be hoping to end the year with a fair few stage wins and points jerseys to their names.

Team Presentation

Leaders

Mark Renshaw

Mark is the younger of our two leaders. He will now be looking to step out of the shadows of his old team mate Cavendish and he will begin his attempt to beat him when the two meet in the Tour Down Under. He will also target Milano-San Remo for if it comes down to a sprint at the finish.

Robbie McEwen

i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd475/davidworthington27/robbiemcewen.jpg

Robbie is now 39 and is reputably past his best. He will try to find some of the quality from his early career. His main aim this season is the Criterium du Dauphine along with some continental tours where he will be hoping to claim both some stage wins and points jerseys.

Protected Riders

Murilo Fischer

i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd475/davidworthington27/fischer.jpg

Fischer is are best rider for the hilly one day races in the team. He will race a few stage races but his season will mainly be based around one day races as he can ride both hills and cobbles reasonably well.

Stuart O'Grady

i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd475/davidworthington27/stuartogrady.jpg

Stuart is our rider for the cobbled races this year and he will also act as a valuable lead out man for our sprinters in sprints. He will also be a good fighter in smaller stages where he might be called on to help pull back breakaways.

Brett Lancaster

i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd475/davidworthington27/brettlancaster.jpg

Lancaster is our leading time trailer so he will mainly be used to support our leaders in stage races with TTTs. He will also lead at least stage race of his own this season so it will be interesting to see how he performs as the sole leader in a race.

Glen Chadwick

i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd475/davidworthington27/glenchadwick.jpg

Chadwick is our best stage races so he will be our leader in Criterium du Dauphine but we will not expect a great performance there. He will be expected to do better in some smaller tours though and will be hoping to return home with at least one leaders jersey.

Season Goals

Santos Tour Down Under is the main aim this season for our riders. Renshaw is our leader there and he will be hoping to gain a few early stage wins on his home turf. He is planning on being on good form for the start of the season but he will still struggle to beat his ex team mate Cavendish even with the advantage of form.

Milano-San Remo is going to be a struggle but we believe this year could end in a mass sprint so we will of course take Mark again. He will try to mix it up at the end and claim a top 10 finish.

Tour of Britain has been made a goal by the sponsors so they can show their colours to the biggest fans of their larger. Fosters also hired a British manager so he will be keen to prove to his countrymen that his new team has what it takes to be a major cycling force.

The team is also hoping to claim a fair few stages and smaller tours. Our main aim this season will be points jerseys though due to our team being based around the sprint front. This season is really just a season to build on the talent we possess and we will not be too down heartened if there are few highlights. The squad is looking forward to next season where it will be likely the season will be aimed at pushing for promotion from the continental tour.
