I'm curious to see how Westra and Kelderman'll do.

And please don't let boring Wiggins win.

Wiggins to win, again.

iNSUPERABLE
I think that the stage to Morzine will be epic

Alakagom
Only way Wiggins doesn't win this is 1) Falls 2) One of the teammates capable of winning ( Froome/Porte/Rogers) is a leader and Wiggins is only acting as doemstique ( i.e Algarve 2012 )

Other than that Wiggins is 2nd best time-trialer with Tony Martin. And I can't really see him drop on any stages except the Col de Joux Plane but with 50km TT the gaps will be too big to reduce much of deficit imo.

Wiggins to win it and peak too early so that he falls short in the Tour. I hope.

Wiggins will win all stages.

With the form he has shown this season, there is no other winner than Bradley Wiggins Wink

Pretty much, yeah. Winning the Dauphiné = Not doing very well at the Tour.

The only guys who have won both in the same season are the best stage racers ever: Anquetil, Merckx, Hinault, Induráin and Armstrong. Guys who are so good they can scrape a Dauphiné win while saving top form and energy for the Tour.

Last year the discussion during the Dauphiné was "Wiggins is doing well. Should he dig deep to win the Dauphiné or save it for the Tour?"

He wisely went for the Dauphiné, which was the biggest win of his career. But this year he has a chance to do better in the Tour than he likely ever will, given the course and the unusually beneficial (to him) situation of the other possible contenders: A. Schleck is all over the place, Menchov is done, Contador is suspended and Evans' preparation has been screwed by injuries.

Plus, he already won the Dauphiné, he has no reason to not save himself for the Tour.

I would put my money on Brajkovic or Martin, maybe even on Westra. They aren't real Tour contestors but they surely would like to win a PT race this year.

Evans was 2nd last year and won the Tour. Yes, being 2nd =/= win, but still he did well and won the Tour. Considering the craptastic route of the Dauphiné I can see Wiggins winning it without putting his Tour prep at risk unless the stronger climbers make the Joux Plane really hard.

issoisso
The riders don't need to make the Joux-Plane hard. It always is.

Every time it's used in the Tour, the riders always mention how it's so freaking hard despite not being particularly long or steep.

I know Joux Plane has always been hard, but Plateau de Beille was also always hard. Until last year. Given that the stage to Morzine is the only one where the climbers can gain time back on Wiggins, if they don't go berserk there I can see Wiggins winning the Dauphiné without breaking a sweat.

Great Post Alakagom,

I think the only question is if Wiggins will go for it or not. Maybe even saving some energy he will be able to win this plus do great at Tour.

Pellizotti2
The route lacks a mountain top finish. I usually like this race because of the hard routes, but this edition is a small disappointment.

Only one I can see beating Wiggins is Martin. Think he'll get dropped on Joux Plane though, because his climbing isn't good enough.

Its not boring, its called using your strengths to beat the others, where they are weak. This year, bradley wiggins has been the best time triallist, and if he can stay with them in the mountains like in romandy and paris-nice, he is clearly the strongest rider and therefore deserves to win
