Currently I have 3 trainers in my team, none of whom are very good. The best one has 8 in "Stage races", but thats about it. I need atleast one more since I've signed some more riders for this upcoming season.
Is it worth it to spend more money hiring better trainers? For example, I have a young rider who will end up with more than 80 in cobbles, yet he is not really improving at all. My best trainer for cobbles has 3, will he improve faster if I get a new one that has, say... 8?

Depends on how much money you have. Generally is worth.

Yes. Although decisive is the training plan. This is a very approximate but in example for my sprinter who has Sprinter training and trainer with 8 sprinter skill, capital_f_sprint growing ca. 4,8 by 5 days. Without trainer it is ca. 4,0. So with good trainer developement is ca 20% faster. But like i said, it is very approximate.
Edit: I check my notes and I have to correct: in most cases attributes increase 100% faster with trainer than without him. Ie: Sagan, sprinter training, trainer with sprinter skill 8: after 5 days capital_f_spring increase by 4,36, without trainer: 2,98. My youngster stage racer: mountain 3,25 (with 10 stage race trainer) vs 1,62 (without), etc.
