Hello all, I have read through many of the tutorials, but I am still confused about how to properly prepare riders and train them for specific races, and at what % training I should have riders at.
Is there any easy way to do this without breaking open my university math books?
I have left training to the AI but as of now I need to do it manually so I can make sure certain riders race what I want them to race, and any suggestions of an easy way to do this would be greatly appreciated.
I just don't understand exactly how everything works and it seems the more I try to read and research it, the more confused I get lol.
For example:
I just started a season with discovery, and whipped through the tour of Australia to try to figure things out.
No training camps, no nothing, never changed a thing, and this is what happened on the training screen.
allan davis - 69 pts(56/80 + 13/14) training 60%, 7 race days and he has some yellow in the fatigue bar.
trent lowe - 65 pts(52/80 + 13/14) training 80%, 7 race days, no fatigue.
volodimyr bileka - 70 pts(58/80 + 12/14) training 80%, 6 race days, no fatigue.
Why does davis have fatigue, training at a lower rate than the others yet they don't have any fatigue at all?
From what I have read, ppl say keeping riders under 65 fitness and 60% training creates no fatigue (I think anyways), so how come davis has fatigue and bileka does not?
If anyone can help explain this to me in plain english, I will be forever in debt to you lol. I don't know if I am missing something or what it is, but I just cannot seem to grasp this concept of training, racing, and fitness levels at all what so ever.

there's other things that affect fatigue. for example, if he wins or gets a podium and you say something to the media that gets him to be overconfident and think he doesn't have to try, his fatigue rises.
also, sometimes if he makes very big efforts.
I believe other things also affect it, but I'm not sure what.
also, he might have started the season already at a high fitness, and as such, gained a bit of fatigue with the training.

Yes, I have read that article, confusing a bit, but grasped a bit as well.
I did sim through a season and manually trained select riders, and things went pretty good, so I think I might have the hang of that, or at least have a better idea.
But, what is best after you have a rider who has completed a race in which he was peaking for?
Do you take him down to 0%, if so, for how long?
Quite a few of my riders ended up with red training fatigue, which I do not know if that is normal or not, but if it is not, any suggestions on how to avoid that?
I had most of the select riders I manually trained at 50% in jan, 60% in feb, and 70% march and then raised the % a few weeks before the race I wanted them to peak for. After a race I would take them down to 0% for a few weeks, then back up to 60%.
I don't really know if that is even close to being a good routine, I guess that's why I'm looking for some pointers
I think you can ride up to 50 days in PCM2007 without losing the extra 10 points of potential racing fitness. In the guide it says PCM2006 was 40 days.
Under 40 TF -- train at 60%
TF 40 to 65 -- train at 90%
TF 65 to 80 -- train at 100%
You will receive fatigue when your TF is under 40 and over 65. You get higher fatigue the higher your % level. Maintaining your rider in the 70's at 100% will only last about 30 days before your maximum TF drops below 80. If you maintain your rider at 70% he can last much longer.
I usually bring my riders into the 70's for a big race then quickly drop them below 65 after the race. That way you can peek a few times before his fatigue gets too high.
